When I started working in an international call center - after the V&A training, it was my first day of calls.
An Indian talking to US person and the accent - it all made it so difficult on the real call.
The caller was asking something else and I was saying not sure what. Somehow the call ended and immediately the Quality Lady came with a frowning face, put Aux in my machine and took me to the next room.
She kept shouting on me, cursing the people who hired me and cleared my training. After she was done walking over me, trampling me and my self respect, she walked out.
I kept sitting there looking in air. The job was really important for me.
Rs 8,500 per month job for a B. Com person in Delhi that time and I knew no one would pay me that much.
next 15 minutes I was talking to me, scolding myself, shouting on myself inside, crying for me and then pushing myself and then I wiped my tears and moved back to floor to take the next call. I had to do it, there was no option.
Next call ended and Quality lady appeared immediately like a Ghost. My heart almost sank, I thought its over, they will throw me out.
With the same attitude she again put Aux on my machine and ordered me to follow her to the next room.
The steps got really heavy and the head got blank.
Her first question - What did you take?
I got puzzled - what ?
She again asked did you smoke weed or something after she left.
I told her honestly - I don't even smoke (till that time, I din't). I was just sitting in the same spot and went back to my seat to take the next call, she can check the camera.
She asked me again - tell me truly.
I was telling the truth.
She asked again - So what happened really, last call you were a disaster and 15 mins later - you took a perfect kind of call - proper AHT, no fillers, proper resolution to the query, no dead air, no ah hh-hmm sounds.
She said - I have not seen any fresher taking that good call, so again asked what did you do.
I rose from my seat and said - 'I talked to myself'
and went back to my seat, made me available removing Aux and started taking the calls again.
Till this day when I get in an issue - I talk to myself about it and the resolution comes from within. Someone is inside who guides us, its all about tapping the core.
