I use iTunes all the time. What I think you mean is that Apple doesn’t support the user library anymore. I still buy mp3’s to support artists. I just wish we could manage all of our music with it. It still doesn’t support user uploads outside of the iTunes store.

As I wrote in my blog post this week, fandom (particularly online) is out of control, and artists and their teams need to help reel it back in.

Another round of layoffs started at UMG today. Artists and their fans often blame labels for everything, but many of the people working in these buildings to support artists care deeply about the work. Some artists may have just lost their only advocate at the company.

After 11 amazing years, we are now independent artists. We are eternally grateful to our incredible team at Columbia/Distruptor for a decade plus of hard work that has resulted in unimaginable success. We have no idea what to expect for our next chapter but we are extremely excited to have fun and experiment with all our new music releases. Thank you for sticking with us fam we know we owe you some records!

A big thank you to Bill at BILLCS Music Blog for reviewing my new single, “LOVING” (Luv Foundation UK Radio Mix).
Bill has supported my music since 2022, starting with his review of the Champain remix of “Sexy Boy.” Since then, he’s reviewed 9 others.

These are obvious flaws in communication between them. And if the artist doesn’t know or care that they are happening well that’s on them.
3/3 He fell on tough times for many years but came back revitalized. A few years ago he reactivated RFC as an imprint/promotion company. I was happy to write about some of its recent independent releases . His knowledge, zeal and enthusiasm for dance music will be greatly missed.
2/3 He worked with Warner, TK, and Atlantic as a music executive and was hired to Warner with his own imprint, RFC, which he later took to Atlantic. He worked with all of the most famous disco stars, many of whom he broke into clubs and then on to radio.
1/3 A rare post from me here but with sad news for #disco and #dance music lovers. RIP disco/dance pioneer Ray Caviano. This obituary doesn't mention it but he was 75 and passed away suddenly due to kidney/dialysis complications. soultracks.com/music-industr…

The yappers are usually people there who aren’t interested in the show but the experience, and just want to hang with the friends who are.

One problem is that the biz is channeling a major portion of their energy to Tik Tok and a lot of people still don’t use that platform. Other platforms like IG are taking a hit because of that. And radio is 6-8 months behind because corporate big wigs don’t want it to change.

New music not sticking has less to do with quality and more with the fact that little in life is a shared experience anymore. A song didn't need to be otherworldly 15 years ago to capture our collective attention. Now we have No. 1 records people haven't heard.

Tik Tok is the only place that the biz is interested in looking for talent because it’s easy to do A&R at no cost. Instagram is good for engagement but not to get noticed and expect something more to come of it. The biz no longer relies on its gut and has turned to data.
Unfollowed a @billboard columnist who is reposting the governor of Florida, which is not welcome in my timeline.
