I would probably put at least one joke in my comedy show trailer but that's just me!

I personally love the 3/5 -> 4/5 breakpoint because it forces the reviewer to actually commit to the game being really good, or just decent. A 70 is a coward's score
Replying to @binarydoubts @JoshM574
and as you said, every mildly competent game gets an 80 anyway and if you try to actually evaluate stuff you get midwits like Paul bitching and moaning. truly no winning

If we have to have scores I prefer a thumbs up/down system (Eurogamer used to do this) but stars are decent too. Once you get into 100-point scales it's just madness. Art is too complicated to be meaningfully distinguished in that way

I've been into games and reading reviews for like... 20 years at this point. At no time during this period have gamers understood the concept of reviews being subjective or the idea that review scores aren't some scientific system that should be taken Seriously

Bad take. Why should any outlet be obligated to curve their scores because of a third party aggregator? I love they they actually use the whole scale.

My hot take is he's too good of an actor to be stuck doing Bezos Bond pictures

Smashing my PC when it looked like the AoE II medium AI was beating me was not an act of frustration. It was actually an example of Extraplanar Warfare, the approach to military theory I've been developing. You attack the enemy in metaphysical modalities to which he has no access

is Steam the only piece of software that has gotten better over time? I literally can't think of another answer

for some reason Nintendo games seem to have awful voice direction, at least in English. The line reads in Tears of the Kingdom were uniformly awful (the script didn't help either).

what's the slice situation. you only get 1 or can you get more if you're a hungry lad

again this is my first ace combat so maybe if i'd played many of the others I would feel differently, but man, this is probably my game of the year. I had no idea how much variety and intrigue you could pack into a genre that (I thought) was about turning in circles in the sky

To be clear, it's a well-written and thought-provoking review, I just didn't identify with much of it. Balance between ground targets and dogfights seems good to me, missions (even defence/escort ones) are scripted but not unreasonably strict, I even like the Shadow chatter

This is my first Ace Combat game, so I'm entirely new to the franchise but I've really been loving it. Aside from agreeing that some of the cutscenes are a bit long, my experience with the game seems to be totally different than the author's.
