The stand without a name..
Thereโs an extra tier at the Etihad, we mortals cannot see.
It seats all our lost loved ones, who get to watch for free.
Though God will never influence, the outcome of a game,
He builds the extra seating, in the stand without a name.

Sunday 11th May 2003- The day we said goodbye to Maine Road. ๐
It was an emotional afternoon as City played their final ever match at the ground we had called home for 80 years. And, of course, in true City fashion, we lost 1โ0 to Southampton!
Among those reflecting on the occasion was the legendary Mike Summerbee, who shared these poignant words:
"I'm going to find a quiet corner of Maine Road when everybody has gone home for the last time and let the memories wash over me."
And what memories they must have been, Mike.
You didn't just make memories for yourself. You helped create thousands of unforgettable moments for generations of Blues, memories that lived on long after the old ground had gone.
For so many of us, Maine Road was never just a football ground. It was part of our lives. The familiar streets, the walk to the match, the noise of the Kippax, the faces we'd see every other Saturday, and that unmistakable feeling of being home.
So, Blues, where were you on that final day?
Do you remember your last walk down to Maine Road? Did you linger a little longer after the final whistle, taking in the sights and sounds one last time? Or did you find yourself looking back as you walked away, knowing you'd never make that same journey again?
We'd love to hear your memories of Sunday, 11th May 2003. ๐
Some places never really leave you. Maine Road will always be one of them.

I've just rediscovered my 1980s inflatable banana hidden away in a box of City memorabilia I've saved from 70s-90s: gjfootballarchive.com/2026/1โฆ

I doubt there'll be as many bananas on Tuesday night but so far the return of the craze from almost 40 years ago is going well. Bananarama 2026.
Gaynor Austin ๐(was Norris) retweeted
Football should be fun. In 80s fans were blamed for many of the gameโs ills and City fans started the banana craze trying to put the fun back into the game. Itโs humour, camaraderie and basically just fun. Great to see it return.
I almost forgot, have @premierleague explained 12 fucking minutes yesterday yet? TWELVE FUCKING MINUTES! And we're the bent ones apparently.

ay btw, i got a solution for City if the owners cant own City anymore. The sheikh puts 5BN in @NoelGallagher bank, Noel buys the club & takes over ownership ๐ lol Abu dhabi still control the ting from afar
