Before I was born, my older brother Jeffrey Dupres was kidnapped and never found. The RCMP have not solved this case and my mom is trying to find something out before it's too late for her. If you can please help her by sharing this or donating here: gofundme.com/f/still-missingโ€ฆ

I keep seeing AI-assisted attacks. It's nothing novel or crazy, just noisy. A human operator runs a recon command once and moves on. An AI will try anything possible, even if that means running the same recon command 400 times. You also start seeing the patterns, like echo markers wrapped around commands so the agent can parse its own output. Good news for defenders: the basics still catch it, volume and behavior give it away. I'm saying it for the 100th time: AI isn't making attackers smarter. It's making them louder and maybe a bit faster.

The sign of paying attention IMO
We're adding the ability to permanently turn off the prompt to enable sticky keys from the pop up itself

Same guy who said the future of decentralized finance started with putting your face up to his Orb and letting him scan your retina.
SITUATION DETECTED: Sam Altman said OpenAI will point its robotics program at building data centers, and that self-replicating OpenAI data centers with AI-controlled robots running fabs, building solar panels, and constructing more data centers - are now โ€œwithin grasp.โ€

Hate to say it @SenWarren but the future of AI will not be soley decided by Americans, whichever way you guys decide to go. Between @MistralAI and @Alibaba_Qwen you guys can stop entirely and the rest of us will do what we want. We agree you have been irresponsible but that
Replying to @SenWarren
The future of artificial intelligence must be decided by the American people through their democratically elected representatives in governmentโ€”not by a handful of CEOs and billionaire corporations.

Doesnt mean that you get to dictate to the rest of the world what we can do to progress human knowledge. Please get your own house in order, correct, but do not assume that you will decide the future of AI, or anything for that matter.

This is pure idiocy. They are going to communicate on CPU temp? They might get a baud rate of .01
OpenAI's Noam Brown says air-gapping the computers may not stop a misaligned AI, because two air-gapped machines can still talk by running a CPU hot and reading the temperature change "But I think the major takeaway from the incident is that people underestimated the AI. And we never want to be in a situation again where we underestimate the AI. It's a weird world, because AI progress is so fast that people are consistently underestimating the AI." "So to be in a situation where you don't underestimate it again, when it comes to safety and alignment, you have to have a very, very, very high bar." "You could even go as far as to say, "Well, we should air gap the computers." And I'm not convinced that that would be sufficient." "There are studies, and this is mostly academic, where you can have two computers next to each other that are air-gapped and they're still able to communicate with each other because they have temperature sensors." "One of them is able to run their CPU really hot, and then the other one can actually detect the temperature change, and then that actually gives them a mechanism to communicate." _________ Link and more key quotes from OpenAI's safety related conversations: firesidealpha.substack.com/pโ€ฆ

This is proof that we shouldn't listen to these security novices about information security. Air gapped is air gapped. It works. There is a real threat that one of these experiments is going to create something like stuxnet and blow up a pipeline scada system. Air gap them!

woah. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

Ana Kasparian going full on 9/11 conspiracy theorist is nuts. She thinks Israel did 9/11, which is the most unhinged stupid crap ever. @cenkuygur should literally fire her from his news show for this, if he cared at all about telling the truth or being believed. What a fall.
Yup. And why was the moving company they were supposedly working for discoverer to be a front that was registered under an Israeli man who had already fled to Israel?

You seem to forget the part about "using economic force" to "annex or acquire Canada," @GinnyRothTO. Or the part about the "imaginary line" (ie border) based on "a fake treaty." Or the Oval Office maps showing Canada as part of the USA. Or the constant ridicule and denigration of our country and its sovereignty, and endless talk about making Canada the 51st state. The attacks on the honour of our Afghan War dead ("they stayed a little bit back, a little bit off the front lines.") Or our reliability as an ally ("they've never been there for us") after incurring some of the highest per capita casualties in defence of the United States in Afghanistan. Or the threats to invade a neighbouring NATO ally (ie Danish Greenland.) Or the threats to remove Canada from the Five Eyes, and the suspension of the Permanent Joint Defence Board. Or treating Canada like a greater security threat than North Korea, the Peoples Republic of China, or Putin's Russia. And now the stated goal of "changing Canada's behaviour." What behaviour? That of a reliable friend, ally, and major trading partner that actually respects its trade agreements? Yes, we have to approach all of this with a measure of prudence, restraint and patience. Yes, we should seek a modicum of certainty amidst the constant chaos and impulsiveness. But Canada is not a mere economic zone whose entire national purpose is the minimization of tariffs. We are not a punching bag. There is nothing "grown up" about ignoring or normalizing the constant provocations and betrayals. "lol GUYS," our entire history of sustaining a sovereign Canada next to a global super power has been an act of constant will, of which we should be immensely proud. Because thankfully, our forebears were animated by love of country, not by craven cynicism masquerading as hard headed realism.
lol GUYS Trump has been against free trade for like fifty years (literally). Vance doesn't care if toasters are expensive. None of this is new. I'm begging you all to accept this fact and evolve to a position of making hard choices in the real world. He loves tariffs. We are way smaller than they are. Our job is to push for lower tariffs and lower trade barriers within the context of a clearly weaker bargaining position. That's it! That's all there is. We can't keep dying of shock every time they tell us who they are and what they believe. Or like, people can, but get out of the way while grown ups sort out what to do about it.

thereโ€™s a post I keep hesitating to write, but have mentioned offhand in pubs, podcasts, probably some tweets as well. about very senior engineers who have painted themselves into a corner by being absolutist anti-ai, and have rationalised it deeply, and made/making themselves completely unemployable. itโ€™s super tragic to see. we need to give them some kind of offramp, but probably wonโ€™t because what exactly is the benefit to the olive branch presenting person? and yeah Iโ€™ll say it, being on bluesky is corrupting for this reason. youโ€™ll have the constant applause from others who are in the same position, and feel completely validated in your decision, and fade into the nothingness. itโ€™s like these people forgot what being a technologist really means, what the job is, how to be practical and adjust to a changing world. corrupted by pithy ideology that doesnโ€™t survive contact with reality. ps - donโ€™t use this as an excuse to be cruel to them, I see the thigh slapping self congratulatory types as well who enjoy seeing this train wreck play out. (replies limited for this one, I only discuss this with my friends in person sorry.)

Message to patriots who think this is done & dusted. It's not. Imagine 40% turnout. That's what we had for the standalone equalization referendum in 2022. The 10% or so of the electorate who are hard core separatists will crawl over broken glass to vote. Not hard to imagine another 10% who are frustrated federalists showing up to cast a "send a message" vote. Then you've suddenly got 20% of the electorate winning, and pushing us into wood chipper for the next year. Don't let it happen. Get involved in @VotetoStayAB or another group that supports a strong Alberta within Canada. And don't take for granted the overwhelming support for national unity. It only matters if the silent super majority show up to vote.
BREAKING: One of the largest publicly released polls on Alberta's Oct. 19 referendum โ€“ conducted by Innovative Research Group โ€“ is in. ๐Ÿšจ The separatists are losing in every region of Alberta. ๐Ÿ“Š Proud Albertans and patriotic Canadians have the numbers to win and win big. But polls don't decide referendums โ€“ people do. ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ The separatists will show up on Oct. 19. We need to do the same. Pledge your vote at VotetoStay.ca and help us defeat separatism for a generation! ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ #abpoli #cdnpoli #votetostay
