A mom who stayed at our shelter welcomed a baby. During her stay, she built a trusting relationship with Bryn (pictured), a peer support staffer who was the only person present at the birth. Mom and baby are housed and well!

We usually welcome 2-3 cats and 2-4 dogs per night at our women’s shelter. Bethanie’s Room, is one of only a few places that allow pets to sleep with their human. It’s definitely extra work to keep supplies and litter available.

Levi handmade 42 leather belts for people experiencing homelessness. These incredibly useful gifts will be given out to Blanchet House guests. Levi thoughtfully made them in varying sizes. This began as an Eagle Scout project and he’s continued. Good luck at OSU!
This week, the city updated us on plans to close a 200-bed shelter down the street from Bethanie’s Room. Our shelter is at capacity most nights, with limited options for guests to move into housing. As more shelter beds disappear, we’re left asking where will people go?
Our Hood to Coast relay team is running for Blanchet House and our guests! They are 91% to their fundraising goal. Cheer them on by donating at bit.ly/4y1JToV
What should we name our Hood to Coast team mascot? Runners take off from Mt. Hood’s Timberline Lodge on Friday at 6 a.m. and then head to the Oregon coast. The team of 12 is running for Blanchet House’s guests. You can support the team by donating at bit.ly/4y1JToV
“Know what it means to LIVE... Not just be ALIVE...” is a painting by our meal guest Cheryl. Eliza bought the original, which is featured in our On the Ledge Art Show.

Unfortunately, a second window in our cafe was smashed this week. We have it boarded up now but the cost of repair takes away from helping people with food and shelter. You can help, by donating $10 at BlanchetHouse.org/donate. Thank you for your support.
Imagine it’s your first time in America and Blanchet House is the first place you visit and dine? That’s exactly what this group from Japan did. As a collective of volunteers with the Japan Humanitarian Support Center they came to learn how to run a human aid organization.
Only two blocks from Blanchet House, The Oasis offers public restrooms, showers, and laundry in Portland.
Every day, people line up at @blanchethouse for a hot meal. Some are experiencing homelessness. Some are working but can't make ends meet. Some are seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, or neighbors facing a temp crisis.
We believe everyone deserves to eat. No question.

69 women slept in our shelter, nearly filling our 75 beds just three months in. A woman 6 mths pregnant and another on her 2nd day of a new job stayed. They’re here because they can’t afford housing. With the 200-bed Northrup Shelter set to close June 30, the pressure is growing.
Shoutout to Dylan for volunteering again to make beds at our women’s shelter. He’s a senior at LaSalle High School. We’re so busy with more than 60 women a night and need volunteers. If you’d like to help, sign up for an evening shift, 5:30-7:30 pm. bit.ly/4u5xmPB
During each meal service, our restroom is open to guests thanks to volunteers like Santos. The restroom volunteer manages the line, offers hygiene supplies, and keeps the space tidy. Guests can also use restrooms, showers, and laundry at the city-run Oasis 2 blocks away.
