An American legend has taken his final rest. John Kinsel Sr., one of the last original Navajo Code Talkers who used their language to outwit the Japanese in World War II, has died at 107. His passing closes a key chapter in the story of the men whose secret messages helped save countless lives in the Pacific. In 1942, the U.S. Marine Corps recruited Navajo men for a classified mission. Standard codes were being broken, but the complex, unwritten Navajo languageβ€”known to fewer than 30 non-Navajosβ€”became the solution. Kinsel, born in Lukachukai, Arizona, was among those who stepped forward. He served with the 9th Marine Regiment in brutal battles including Guam, Bougainville, and Iwo Jima. Under constant fire, the Code Talkers sent fast, accurate radio messages using terms like β€œturtle” for β€œtank” and β€œchicken hawk” for β€œdive bomber”—a code the Japanese never cracked. The mission remained secret for decades. Kinsel returned home unable to speak of his role until the operation was declassified in 1968. He spent his final years in the log home he built himself and passed away peacefully in his sleep. With his death, we lose a living link to one of America’s most remarkable wartime contributions. As Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren said: β€œHe fought for all of us to have the freedom we enjoy today.” Rest in peace, warrior .. ❀️Thank you for your interest!❀️

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that Russia will not be permitted to compete at the 2027 World Junior Tournament in Alberta as long as the Ukraine invasion continues. The announcement comes just a week after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) must reinstate Russian teams.

❀️ My beautiful boy deserves to be remembered with love, not hate. ❀️ Yesterday, a Coventry fan used a photograph of Bradley to taunt Sunderland supporters. As Bradley’s mam, this is heartbreaking, especially as it’s one of my favourite photographs of him. Just look at that smile. I remember that day like it was yesterday. He was so happy, having so much fun. Those moments were precious because they were few and far between. So much of Bradley’s short life was spent battling cancer and enduring treatments no child should ever face. To see such a beautiful memory used in such a cruel way really does make my heart hurt. πŸ’” We are a football-loving family who follow Sunderland home and away. I’m all for football banter, but surely mocking a child who died from cancer is not banter? I hope the club takes appropriate action and the young lad’s family help him understand how hurtful his actions were. I don’t want hatred directed towards him, so please please don't, just for him to learn from this. Behind that photograph is a little boy who was loved beyond measure and a family who miss him every day. Thank you to everyone who has defended Bradley and shown us so much love. It means more than you know. ❀️ What some people don’t realise is that Bradley’s story didn’t end when his life did. Because of Bradley, children’s lives are being saved, hundreds of families have received vital support, and children facing unimaginable battles are being given hope. Through Super Brad’s Pad, families can escape hospital life, spend precious time together and make memories that last forever. That is Bradley’s legacy. The difference my little boy continues to make in this world. No amount of cruelty will ever take that away. So rather than let this photograph be remembered for hatred, I want it remembered for what it truly represents. My beautiful little boy, enjoying one of the happiest days of his life, with the biggest smile on his face. πŸ’™ That is how I want the world to remember him. #CancerHasNoColours β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’šπŸ©·πŸ–€πŸ§‘

Today at the CBS Arena, as Coventry took on Sunderland, one Coventry fan decided to taunt Sunderland away fans with a picture of the late Bradley Lowery. Absolutely disgusting behaviour, and I really hope Coventry are able to find out who this lad is and ban him for life. All for a bit of banter, taunt the Sunderland fans with a Newcastle badge, or the Nissan logo, but going as low as using young Bradley to try and get at the Sunderland fans is the lowest thing I think I have ever seen at a Premier League stadium. This is absolutely disgusting, and this lad should be ashamed of himself. teapawt.net/RokerReport/status/211…

On 4 October 1917, Private Arthur Hutt was fighting in Belgium during the First World War when every officer and NCO in his platoon became a casualty. So the Coventry soldier took command himself. Hutt ran forward alone towards an enemy position, shot the officer and three soldiers defending it and helped force between 40 and 50 German troops to surrender. But he wasn't finished. When his men later had to withdraw, Hutt stayed behind and covered them by firing at the enemy. He then carried a wounded soldier back to safety. After reaching and securing his new position, he went back out under heavy fire and rescued another four wounded men. His actions that day earned him the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry available to British and Commonwealth forces. And Arthur wasn't some distant military figure with a loose connection to the city. He was a Coventry man, born here in 1889, who worked in the city's cycle industry before the war and returned to Coventry afterwards. He survived the First World War and lived until 1954. It's quite something to think that exactly 109 years ago today, while Coventry families were going about their lives back home, one of their own was in Belgium repeatedly risking his life to bring other men to safety. How many of us knew Arthur Hutt's story? Coventry has so many people from its past whose names deserve to be remembered. ❀️
