Congratulations Onosato on your 6th yusho! 🏆🎉🥳 Here is the NHK "ending" for the Aki basho - we got to see it this time (unlike Nagoya where it didn't screen in time!) #sumo

Acrobatic Tomisakae (formerly Isegahama) doing what he does best!

A recent article from John Gunning in the Japan Times with many interesting behind-the-scenes snippets of info. The hidden details that shape professional sumo japantimes.co.jp/sports/2026…

Yoshinofuji was visiting his hometown when the July 28 Kumamoto earthquake struck. His family's home in Uto in Kumamoto was partially destroyed, so he had to stay at his relatives' houses and fetch water from a well. The locals asked him to "cheer them up with sumo".

The Nagoya macaron is pink! This is when I normally stop watching the prize presentations. 😁

Nagoya 2026 -Congratulations Aonishiki on his 3rd yusho! 🎊💪 Hopefully he hasn't re-injured himself, but that was a fantastic effort. Atamifuji gets his kanto-sho, maybe yusho next time!

Hoshoryu is having a very underwhelming basho. Don't know what's up with him 😕

Someone please explain to me why Onosato lost that one to Gonoyama. Nevertheless that was an amazing leap by Onosato!

Congratulations Wakatakakage on your 2nd yusho! 12-3 🎊🏆💪 I really thought Kirishima was going to clinch it after that brutal oshitaoshi of Ura earlier. Still an exciting end to the May basho despite the lack of yokozuna and ozeki!

Some fun for Mother's Day 🌹

Chiyomaru's retirement message to fans. He says he will be working as a youth leader from now on (wakaimonogashira) and thanks everyone for their support. I'll miss seeing his ample belly! 😥

The decision on Terunofuji's disciplinary action has been postponed to April, it was originally to be decided at the NSK's board meeting on the 25th.

Aonishiki's yokozuna hopes are truly over for now, losing against Hoshoryu and going to 7-8. Kadoban for the Natsu tournament too 😭

Hoshoryu loses his bout against Kotozakura so Kirishima is the March basho winner! Congrats Kirishima!!! 🎊💪🏆

It appears that Ichinojo will soon be a dad (a boy, from the pictures?) Congrats to Ichinojo and his wife! 🎊

Terunofuji after his danpatsu-shiki today, sporting his new haircut! 330 people took part in the actual hair-cutting.

The NHK ending to the Hatsu 2026 tournament - always a crowd pleaser! 🏆 #hatsubasho #sumo

Congratulations Aonishiki on your yusho! The first shin-ozeki to win a yusho since Hakuho in 2006!🏆💪🎊 #hatsubasho #sumo
