🍑 “Practice was the only answer.” New behind-the-scenes details on Jinyoung’s preparation for his Japanese and English dialogue in “100 Days of Deception”~~ Taking on the role of elite interpreter Sato Hideo/Kim Tae-woong, Jinyoung practised his Japanese lines repeatedly from February this year until filming concluded. The Japanese-language coaching team shared: “Compared with the other actors, Park Jinyoung could already speak some simple Japanese. He could also write hiragana, and it was impressive to see him writing out his Japanese dialogue in hiragana himself in a large sketchbook as he memorised it. He said he memorised his lines better when combining dialogue with movement. Watching him memorise his lines while making the movements he had in mind, it almost felt like watching an acting rehearsal.” The team also revealed: “To find the intonation and manner of speaking appropriate for his character, we asked approximately three people to make recordings. He listened so diligently that he once said the voices continued to echo in his ears even when he lay down to sleep. It must have been difficult having Japanese and English lessons one after another, but he always approached his preparation with enjoyment.” The actors also differentiated between American and British English according to the characterisations of Ga-gyeong and Hideo. Director Yoo In-sik explained that the cast began preparing for their foreign-language performances as soon as they were confirmed, with Japanese, English and Chinese-language instructors providing individual lessons and checking dialogue on set throughout filming.
