I have not yet met the person who can convince me to leave Jesus or stop reading the Bible. And honestly, I don’t believe such a person exists. Even if an angel appeared before me and told me to abandon Christ, I would strangle him instead. 🤭 Jesus is not someone I’m willing to trade for anyone or anything. ✝️❤️

“One moment that stood out for me was Jenyreads’ (@jenyreads) honest observation that the economic realities many reviewers face sometimes influence how books are reviewed. In her words, some book influencers accept payment to highlight only the strengths of books while withholding honest criticism. That was an uncomfortable yet necessary conversation about integrity within the literary ecosystem.” Sandra Uche Delumozie's represented PAYPA at the #UmuofiaArtsAndBooksFestival26. This is the cultural persistence of intellectual engagement that marks the colossal line and will bring something evolutionary and transformative. This will not take long due to the natural ingenuity of the average Igbo mind; this will continue as a ripple effect across the South
“A movement is afoot in Southeastern Nigeria. A culture of persistent intellectual engagement is emerging powerfully among the debris of an Olodo Culture which, according to AFREADA Fiction Editor Chidera Ike-Akaenyi in one of her panels, is attempting to “itirise” everything. At the expense of sounding like an affiliate marketer, I am saying that if the same region that has produced the likes of Chinụa Achebe, Chukwuemeka Ike, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Chigozie Obioma in literature and the likes of Uche Okeke and Demas Nwoko in art wants to continue to birth such colossal individuals that would contribute to the advancement of our culture, then they must finance the good things happening at the Umuofia Book Festival. This year, Umuofia Arts and Book Festival came of age, its guests coming from far-flung places across the country and beyond. It has become a marketplace of ideas and intellectual experience—something this country needs direly.” — Chimezie Chika (@ChimezieChika1)

This is why I always scrunch my nose at those people who say they read Things Fall Apart or Arrow of God at the age of 10. Well, yes, you did, but you did not understand what you read. Reading Achebe as an adult is a whole new discovery.
Reading Chinua Achebe with adult eyes has been such a pleasure.

Nnamdi Ehirim is such a kind, gentle, beautiful and solid man. So happy about the success of “The Brevity of Beautiful Things,” since its publication, and genuinely grateful for how supportive he has been with to @UmuofiaBookFest and the work we do in the lit scene in the east.

Great leader
No Sharia Law In Burkina Faso- Traore “I am a Muslim, but everyone in Burkina Faso has the right to practice their own religion. There will never be Sharia law in this country. “To those Burkinabè studying Sharia law in Saudi Arabia, do not return to Burkina Faso. Instead of acquiring technological knowledge and skills that can help develop our country, you chose to study Sharia law. Stay where you are, you won't be allowed back here- President Traore
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video's English subtitles misrepresent President Traoré's words; he announced plans to repatriate Burkinabè students studying Sharia abroad rather than barring their return or declaring no Sharia law. rfi.fr/fr/afrique/202…

"Nigerian Poets" this is generic! This laziness is ambiguous? Do you really know what you are saying? Am I lazy?
Nigerian poets are lazy. My best friends in the literary circles and those who showed me the light are poets. I love you all so much. But you are lazy. It is poets who build cultures and communities. Poets are the best teachers, publishers, critics, essayists. Get to work!

... is ever the same. Each year, there is always something to take home. For me, this time, I observed how the writers of our present day African literature are more concerned with our cultural heritage, relatability, and authenticity as was evident in Ọdịlị Ụjụbụọnụ's...

Artists are crazy people. I met Ogadagidi five years ago at the launch of @imanweze’s “the love canticles” in PH. And this year, hearing that Amu Nnadi was in Enugwu for @UmuofiaBookFest, this old man who is recovering from a major accident swore he must be there. Raw passion.

We were here.
For months and months, I have done virtually nothing here, but talk about the 4th edition of @UmuofiaBookFest, to the extent that I have postponed publicity for my new book. Me and my team have worked so hard and ground our teeth against grain. This was a highlight day 1 on 7/11.
