why do we “fix” footpaths that go viral and not the ones that are broken?
10 months ago, double road indiranagar got "fixed”. it has become deadly again. just 850 m of footpath has 21 serious problems.
so yesterday i recorded both sides. ran it through our footpath model: here’s what came out: (full walk link in comments)
> every spot that needs fixing, geotagged with a 360° view
> who's responsible for each one: name, department, contact number (call them)
imagine if every footpath in the city is recorded twice a month (more on this soon). GBA finds the problems instead of waiting for complaints.
walking the double road footpath again this sunday to check what gets fixed.

Bengaluru is the only mega city with 1200+ parks, big and small in almost every ward. We take great pride in being “garden city”
It makes no sense to keep our precious lung spaces closed during the day - from pourakarmikas to gig workers, everyone needs a little break and all our public spaces belong to everyone, not just local residents. With climate change and heat impact, our parks offer much needed shade and rest to our hardworking citizens
Request @ArshadRizwan @GBAChiefComm to keep parks open throughout the day
So many employees in and around the lake area struggle to find shade in the afternoons for a post-lunch walk.
Why does it have to stay closed? Maybe @ArshadRizwan could consider opening it in the afternoons?

The EDF (Export Declaration Form) rules are now in effect, and it seems like RBI and banks have conspired to create a new hell. Or actually 5 hells.
I consult for an American company. Raised October invoice. Received the Inward remittance. And bang! Mail from @HDFC_Bank detailing everything needed before the payment can be processed.
Let me tell you what the 5 hells are:
1. The hell of confusion – RBI clarified last month that the EDF rules do not apply to individuals. But looks like they haven’t told the banks. And CAs also don’t seem to know. There’s no official communication on who is exempt. Last I checked, I was an individual. No company, no LLP. But HDFC still wants me to file the EDF to credit my payment.
2. The hell of complexity – See the attached pic of the form the bank has sent in excel. It has 5 sheets. To be filled and submitted. Some abstruse acronyms like “AD” - no clue what it means. Some fields are mandatory. Some fields are to be filled by the bank. No idea which is what. And it needs a physical signature. Which leads to...
3. The hell of paperwork - They also sent a pdf with a bunch of request letters. I’m supposed to choose the right letter, print, sign, scan and submit. Creating more paper today is incredibly silly. And, I suppose, someone in the bank will have to upload all this somewhere. Reminds me of those hand-filled immigration forms. Pointless.
4. The hell of repetition – At least for me, most of the details are constant. One client, one payment. If it’s a one-time exercise, fine. I’ll grit my teeth and get it done. But no. These details have to be given month after month. Else… no payment will be credited.
5. The hell of unpreparedness – It would have been simple enough for RBI or HDFC to create an online portal for this. With dropdowns, saved formats, contextual help, etc. to at least make this easy. But that would be too convenient, no? So, they’ve chosen to dump the entire burden on the taxpayer.
I have no opinion or understanding of why this is needed. Maybe it is critical information. Okay! But why make the process so confusing and painful?
And poor communication has meant that the banks have just passed on the pain to the exporter, and even CAs can’t help.
Basically RBI & HDFC feel I should consult less, and comply more. Maybe my client will also agree :)

Ranka left a comfortable life in London because he refused to be a bystander.
Now he's in jail. Our turn now.
To those keeping him there: you can lock him up. You can’t make him stop caring about this country. Dekh lena. I know my friend.
Release Saurav and Ranka. NOW.

Please note the anti-pedestrian and anti-people measure of removing low rise dividers in Lokhandwala Market, Andheri West and other places across the city.
Busy market roads require frequent crossing. Please check the original pictures of dividers in the market. Stop this. @AndheriLOCA please note.

I’m not at all surprised that congress govt is clamping down on protests outside freedom park.
Bcos they know that the next round of protests in Blore are for the absolutely unscientific flyover construction they are trying to sly push forward without public consultation.
#Bengaluru police detained dozens of people protesting against #SIR & #GyaneshKumar in a state with a ruling Congress govt, whose leaders claim to be against SIR too. Their reason? A technicality. That protests are only allowed in Freedom Park, not even 10 metres outside it.

With all due respect, what review of actions of the police when they are bound by police orders from BJP era which your govt hasn't repealed yet?
Why haven't you repealed the Licensing and Regulation of Protests,
Demonstrations and Protest Marches (Bengaluru city) Order, 2021?

What does this have to do with the police? They are merely enforcing The Licensing and Regulation of Protests, Demonstrations and Protest Marches (Bengaluru City) Order (2021) which is a stupid, anti-constitutional, DRACONIAN order enacted by the then BJP government.
Please get that order cancelled immediately.

Around 500 Bengaluru residents formed a human chain at three locations on Sunday, demanding the scrapping of the proposed B-SMILE elevated corridor project.
Protesters at Indiranagar’s 80 Feet Road, 100 Feet Road and Rose Garden in Jayanagar called for cancellation of tenders, reallocation of funds to mobility projects based on IISc guidance, and reinstatement of BMLTA.
They warned of increased pollution, loss of tree cover and damage to neighbourhoods, arguing that flyovers are not a lasting solution to #Bengaluru’s traffic woes.
