#WaspFarming #Japan
Why?
Takahashi relocates nests to his wasp farm, raises them, supplementing food everyday, until nests are peak size in November.
Biggest nest competes at the Gifu Wasp Festival!
Larvae/pupae are harvested for food, sold to local shops. Yum! #Entomophagy
So fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in collecting a Vespa mandarinia nest with JWKA members in Japan! Although sometimes dangerous, they are also a treasured food in some parts of Japan. Many thanks @tatauya7696 and local enthusiasts for sharing such passion! ❤️

After ICE 2024, I invited @WaspWoman @Cin_Oi @bob3brown @HarunaFujioka to my beloved field in Gifu and Aichi. We went hunting for #Vespula shidai & #Vespa mandarinia with wasp enthusiasts. Both the guests and the enthusiasts enjoyed it a lot- it was great!

WHOA! This organisation is claiming that #Biodiversity Net Gain certification can be improved by placing honey bee hives on land. As I stated in my recent report, THAT IS NOT TRUE!
