I’d like to apologise for the incident at last night’s Golden Spatula Vanner Of The Year Awards. Although it was an honest, if violent, reaction to what I thought was the host’s joke about my weight, I accept he was actually pointing out the fire exits. I will learn from this.

The Sunday morning burger van clientele are the absolute backbone of the industry. Their “can do” attitude is genuinely inspiring, and their “why not?” outlook literally puts a spring in my step. I have huge respect for them and attend as many of their funerals as my diary allows
