A company with 40 in-house lawyers hiring an external law firm of 200 lawyers just so both can sit together and watch one 70-year-old Senior Counsel firmly address a judge for 6 minutes is the purest form of theater known to man.

Future Chief Justice Vikram Nath’s absurd, off-the-cuff remark, “don’t travel by air,” becomes less surprising if you looked at the record in a pending petition challenging arbitrary airline tariffs (S. Laxminarayanan vs. Union of India). Tough remarks in open court. Bench led by Justice Nath called festival fares “exploitation” and said it would “interfere.” But you don’t see anything in the judicial orders passed in the matter. In fact, every hearing has ended with more time for the government (one Diwali to another). In May, the petitioner pointed out that the old rules already empowered DGCA to act against “excessive or predatory” fares. The Court never decided the point and chose instead to wait for new rules. In August, it read the draft rules in a “sealed cover” and returned them without comment. Those rules, now notified, delete the “excessive or predatory” power, reduce DGCA to merely “monitoring” fares, and allow the Centre to intervene only in an “extraordinary situation” (vague, arbitrary). So, what happened here. Court was asked to enforce a power against excessive fares, and nearly a year later we have a rule that removes it. Btw, this adds to a growing body of examples where the Court decides in favor of the executive simply by not deciding, because delay helps the executive

The Weil collapse really shows the AI crowd doesn’t get law firms or lawyers. “We’ll just train our work product on their clients’ materials, duh!”

how are you a cis woman living in india and a terf? Like this country doesn't even recognize marital rape as rape but you think the biggest threat to women's rights is recognition of trans people?

It’s hard for me to take most critique of Letterboxd as a social platform seriously because it’s one of the only platforms that doesn’t actually use any recommendation algorithms. Your experience with it is entirely dependent on who/what you choose to interact with.
always baffled by people complaining about having to suffer idiots on Letterboxd. unless i’m going out of my way, i only ever see things people i follow post. it’s one of the chillest social medias because of that

Tweeting is a healthy way to fire off your thoughts. If they stay in your brain they will mold and rot your psyche. Instead you can slowly destroy the minds of those who deserve it (Twitter users)
