Walrus is becoming the default storage layer for @datafdn and Trace, the onchain registry for rights-cleared AI training data.
Trace records where AI training data came from and who owns it.
Walrus stores the original file, keeping it tamper-proof and accessible only to licensed buyers.
Trace has already registered more than 250M contributions and adds over 3M receipts a day, from apps that license data to frontier AI labs.
The next generation of AI will be trained on data from people, making provenance a procurement requirement. Walrus and @SuiNetwork make that provenance verifiable.

Sui Foundation has just invested $30M into @datafdn!!
But this is more than just a funding announcement.
DATA is moving from its own Layer 1 to the Sui Network stack, allowing the team to focus on scaling Trace, its AI training data product, which has already recorded over 250M receipts.
The move brings DATA into an ecosystem built to support its next phase of growth, with Walrus serving as the default storage layer for DATA Foundation apps.
AI labs will also be able to source real-world, rights-cleared training data with verifiable provenance.
Beyond the investment, @theSYlee, founder of DATA Network and CEO of PIP Labs, will join Sui Foundation as a Strategic Advisor.
And $DATA remains the token of the protocol.
DATA is doubling down on its vision, with a stronger ecosystem, less infrastructure overhead, and significant institutional backing.

DATA is coming to @SuiNetwork.
The DATA Network and Trace are joining the Sui stack, bringing a live supply of rights-cleared AI training data to infrastructure built for AI workloads.
With 250M+ receipts already recorded by Trace, AI labs will be able to source real-world data with verifiable provenance, while @WalrusProtocol provides the underlying storage layer.
Sui Foundation is investing $30 million in the DATA Network, establishing the largest institutional stake in the network, alongside the continuing holdings of PIP Labs and the DATA Foundation. Furthering the alignment, SY Lee, founder of the DATA Network and CEO of PIP Labs, joins Sui Foundation as Strategic Advisor.
In the coming months:

Phantom and Sui have decided to end Sui support on Phantom on September 24, and leave open the opportunity to explore other collaborations in the future.
Your funds remain safe and fully under your control. Before 9/24, you can move your wallet to another app that supports Sui, or swap your Sui into a supported asset on Phantom with our fee waived.

its funny you talk about respect, how about respecting a chain that gave you opportunities in the first place.
first, credit to you and the türkiye team. it is undeniable what you built.
but as someone who was part of a team that helped build the african community from scratch, this is over the top.
because of sui, you got to:
- organize events and meet incredible builders
- earn recognition in the ecosystem
- even travel to the suirl event as one of only two creators.
of course it hurts when things change and i think @SuiFoundation could have handled communication better.
but you have to honest, we are in a bear market and most ecosystems have changed priorities.
community activations have slowed and mysten are focused on shipping tech.
this is not happening to only the türkiye. communities in nigeria, ghana and many other regions have been affected too.
my team hosted hundreds of events, built the largest sui developer community in africa and mentored a team that went on to win in sui overflow.
if all of that disappeared tomorrow, i would still be grateful for the opportunity sui gave us.
i’m only here because i genuinely believe in the technology not for anything sui can give me.
support built on incentives disappears when the incentives do.
while support built on conviction lasts much longer.

That feels way too familiar.
For more than 2.5 years, I dedicated myself to building the @SuiTRCommunity from the ground up. I created countless pieces of content, organized events across Türkiye, and advocated for Sui every single day because I truly believed in this ecosystem.
What did we get in return?
Silence.
@EmanAbio never gave our community the respect it earned. I reached out through DMs multiple times. The least he could have done was acknowledge our work or leave a single comment on a Sui Türkiye post. Not once.
Everyone across Türkiye and Europe saw the work, the consistency, and the sacrifices we made for Sui. Community builders, founders, and ecosystem members recognized it. Somehow, the people who were supposed to support us never did.
From day one of mainnet, I kept posting about Sui through every bull market and every bear market. I defended this ecosystem when it was being criticized and celebrated it when it succeeded.
Today, I don’t even feel like commenting on Sui-related posts anymore, let alone creating content.
You had every opportunity to support us, acknowledge our efforts, or simply show that our work mattered. Instead, you chose to ignore us.
At this point, it genuinely feels like you either dislike me, or you simply don’t respect the Sui Türkiye community. Either way, the message we’ve received has been the same.
Respect should never be something community builders have to ask for. It’s something real leaders willingly give to the people who have earned it.

The Paga deal, announced July 1. Tokenized real-world assets and blockchain payments for millions of users across the continent.
Same day, 13.72 million SUI unlocked. $9.4 million of fresh supply hitting the market.
And the price? Up 11% this week anyway. SUI reclaimed $0.70 while leading the biggest unlock wave in crypto.
New demand is absorbing new supply.

one of the biggest shocks for me when i first started crypto was that everyone could see my wallet balance.
imagine that everytime you sent or received money, the entire internet could see how much you had left.
for many years, crypto only gave us two extremes.
you either had to choose everything being public or everything being hidden.
neither of these work perfectly for real-world finance.
i guess until now, confidential transactions are now live on @SuiNetwork.
this launch has introduced what was missing, a valuable middle ground.
we will now begin to see;
- private balances and transaction amounts.
- visible counterparties.
- auditable access when required.
who knew that the solution to one of crypto’s greatest problems was not transparency or privacy.
it was controlled visibility.
now for all the blockchain purists and hacks who want total privacy, grow up!
while your transactions will be private regulators, auditors and compliance teams can still access information when necessary.
that’s the model sui is moving toward with confidential transfers.
personally i feel this is the missing piece that was needed before serious financial activity could move onchain at scale.
big unlock for payments, stablecoins and institutions and as always, sui is leading the way.

first off, @DeepBookonSui season 1 claim was a huge success.
i saw a lot of people celebrating huge point allocations yesterday and some of the biggest winners used @CetusProtocol at some point.
one thing is clear, cetus has quietly been one of the easiest gateways into liquidity and trading across the entire sui.
for anyone looking to put some $deep capital to work today, the opportunities are still there.
some of the apr’s on the pools on cetus would be unbelievable if they were not true.
a $200 lp position at 181% and 245% APR could generate around $30-$40 per month in rewards.
show me another protocol on @SuiNetwork with better risk to reward ratio. Don’t worry i will wait👀.

Activity on Sui mainnet has resumed, and transactions are flowing normally.
Both today’s and yesterday’s halts are due to the interaction of the 1.72 release, which introduced Address Balances, and gas charging logic. Yesterday’s implemented fix was an interim measure designed to restore functionality to the network while the Sui Core Team worked on a long-term solution.
The interim fix had a known issue with a low probability of causing a halt. This morning, the network hit a variant of the known issue and halted.
As of now, the long-term solution has been implemented by validators, fully addressing known issues caused by the original bug, and network activity has resumed.
