Nov 5th will mark the first time Chicago has elected a school board. It’s a big deal for the city and its 323,000 students. Don’t panic! We’ve done the reading, and we’ve made a guide to get you up-to-speed and to the polls quickly. chicagoreader.com/2024-schoo…
City-wide early voting began today! Get on it! (Been a long damned time since I built an election website!)

Just saw this news about Mandy Jenkins and contributed to her GoFundMe. Sometimes the world just isn't fair. I'm wishing her and her family the best in what is a horrible situation.

What’s a website chock full of indispensable information, but rarely/never appears in everyday searches? Looking for great internet buried by content farms, etc.

After many months, I’m happy to share that the Chicago Boundaries App is back!
Simply type in a Chicago address and you’ll be provided with the corresponding neighborhood, community area, ward, ZIP code, police district and police beat.

Schadenfreude isn’t a good look but I can’t resist being pleased that the 2014 trend of giving newsrooms to white dudes with a grudge isn’t working out.
We made this thing by live-tweeting and we’re gonna live-tweet the end of it, goddammit.

Oh yeah time to make kimchi stew
ALT Pork, onions, garlic, kimchi, black pepper and sweet vermouth, on the counter next to the stovetop
WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE? Learn all about the technique, and ingredients (vermouth, dude?) on Mastodon: monogram.org/@brianboyer/109…
Seeing folks say that mastodon links are being flagged. FWIW, a link to our extremely niche server wasn’t.
So I guess the blocking is simple, just for the big domains, which makes sense, especially if you’ve just fired all the people who might build something more clever
