Still buzzing from last night’s Future Solving Club Women in Manufacturing Dinner Salon, which I had the pleasure of cohosting with @AWS and @SourceFuse
I left filled with gratitude and excitement for the future of manufacturing and for the women shaping its future.
Yesterday, I received this email from @FastCompany’s editor-in-chief.
I had to double-take when it opened with “Brian Evergreen wants you to” because at first I read it as personalized marketing.
It’s true. I do want you to think hard about your future.

After pirating over 7 million copyrighted titles, Anthropic called foul on being pirated by DeepSeek, Moonshot, and MiniMax.
But as we all know, when it comes to pirates: the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.
3 truths and a lie about strategy:
- nearly every role involves strategy
- poor strategy is one of the biggest reasons AI projects fail
- strategy doesn't have to be as hard as most people make it out to be
- you don't have time for strategy
can you spot the lie?
whether you can or if you can't, you're going to want to hop onto this lightning lesson this Thursday hosted by a former multi-state speed Chess champion: maven.com/p/1d1bd5/speed-str…
Low hanging fruit is the easy path.
“Put points on the board.”
“Get some quick wins.”
But nothing worth doing—nothing you’re going to look back on, sighing with relief and beaming with pride, will be the result of quick wins.
Whatever it is you want in life, you need a vision.
We don’t rise to the level of our goals, we fall to the level of our systems.
Do you have a system for getting from where you are today to where you want to go?
Whether it’s for work or your life, you 👏🏼 need 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 strategy 👏🏼
On Future Solving, Brian Evergreen asked Rita McGrath for an inside peak at her next book. This was one of the insights she shared.

The first time I heard the word “strategy" was from a Chess Master
I must have been six or seven years old.
Learning what "strategy" meant, how to do it, and how it was different than tactics meant winning trophies.
We went to Chess tournaments nearly every Saturday.

I would play five games against other kids (and sometimes adults) and write my moves down.
Throughout the following week, my friends and I would review our games together, analyze our strategies, what tactics we used, and how it went.

How often do you think about your vision?
For your life?
Your career?
Your team?
Your organization?
I’ve asked thousands of people this question.
What do you think the 3 most common answers are?
🧵
Here’s how I reframe:
Try spending a single hour focused solely on vision and watch how it changes your work and your life.
Having a vision is not a luxury. It’s a basic necessity for anyone who wants their life to continue getting better. It doesn’t have to be grandiose.
