@hack4_freedom Lagos is live!
13 projects built over 2 weeks by women builders in Lagos.
They built tools for bitcoin education, savings, payments, privacy, security, community coordination, and everyday financial access.
Today they present what they made.
Follow along for each project 👇
Your idea could be the one that makes a difference at the next hackathon. ⚡️
Swipe through for 5 things every developer should know before their first hackathon, from choosing the right problem to presenting a solution that matters.
Curious about building on Bitcoin?
Africa is not just adopting Bitcoin. African women are building it.
We built Dada Devs with the hope of creating a better ecosystem for African women in Bitcoin — one where women have access to the technical training, mentorship, resources, and opportunities they need to move from learning about Bitcoin to actively building and contributing to it.
That vision is taking shape.
Through Dada Devs, we are creating pathways for women to develop their technical skills, contribute to open-source projects, explore Bitcoin infrastructure, and build solutions of their own. We want African women to be more than participants in this ecosystem. We want them to help shape its future.
@su_githaiga @nkatha_kk @Salma_Adam_KE @junearsenic7 and @nnakhero are five of the women doing that work. Their journeys reflect what becomes possible when women have the support and space to grow into technical contributors.
And they are just a fraction of what is happening at Dada Devs. There are more women learning, building, contributing, and finding their place in this ecosystem.
We started with a hope for a better future for African women in Bitcoin. Seeing that future begin to take shape through their work is a reminder of why we do this.
Meet the five African women contributing to the future of Bitcoin. Discover what they’re building, the work they’re contributing to, and how Dada Devs is helping create more pathways for African women in Bitcoin development.

I didn't plan on becoming a Founder this year, it was not even on my yearly goal list.
Then I won my first hackathon, @hack4_freedom , and somehow, one win turned into more hackathons, more building, and a version of me I didn't know yet.
My confidence as a founder and a person has grown so much since January.
I’ve learnt to trust my ideas, work with people, take feedback, communicate better, and stop waiting until I feel 100% ready before trying something new.
And I have @briimhd and @ibrahim_sekinah to thank for a lot of that growth and the confidence they helped instill in me even after the hackathon till now.
These two ladies probably have no idea how much they've inspired me, I'll always appreciate them for that. 🩵
To every woman trying to build something: please don't give up on your dreams just because you can't see the whole path yet.
And don't shrink yourself trying to impress people, do it because it matters to you.
Even when bad things happen, learn from it and grow, leave people where you left them and focus on you.
This year also brought amazing people into my life.
I've learnt from people I probably wouldn't have met otherwise, and icl, those experiences have meant so much more than the bad ones.
Not every experience will be good, and not everyone who crosses your path will be there for the right reasons.
But there's still so much to learn, and I'm choosing to be grateful for the growth.
I'm definitely not the same person I was in January. I have a lot more to learn, but I'm proud of how far I've come.
I'm grateful I found my way into this space and I'm excited to see who I become next. 🩵

And we’re especially proud to celebrate our Dadas who showed up, built, collaborated and made their mark. 🧡

If we want to shape Africa’s tech future to better reflect our realities, we have to do more than use the technology. We have to build it. ⚡️
Africa doesn’t just need more people using Bitcoin and open-source technology. We need more people contributing to the code, building infrastructure, and solving problems within our communities.
The projects built by the women at @hack4_freedom Nairobi were a reminder of what’s possible when African developers take the lead in building solutions that reflect their realities. We’re immensely proud of what they’ve accomplished. 🧡
It’s time to move from being consumers of technology to becoming the builders shaping what comes next.

Coding agents have transformed how products are built.
We analyzed ~1,000 inbound requests since 2023 and saw:
- 📈 New integrations grow 14x since Claude Code
- 🆕 Non-crypto apps integrations grow 5x in 2026
- 👀 It’s accelerating: Q2 was +61% above Q1
Builders need money that moves instantly, to anyone, anywhere.
That’s why they're choosing the Breez SDK.
So proud of this brilliant group of women ♥️
Take a look at all of their open source projects here: github.com/hack-4-freedom/na…

Thank you for showing up, sharing your knowledge, contributing your ideas and putting in the work throughout the Hackathon.
Your contributions were an important part of what made Hack4Freedom Nairobi possible. ⚡️
To every woman who built, collaborated, debugged, pitched, encouraged a teammate or simply kept going when things got difficult — we see you. 🧡

And there was an extra win for the Anza team, who received an additional $500 prize from Dada Devs CEO, @marcelorraine .
We also want to give a special shout-out to @NNakhero , who was recognised by other participants for her incredible support and encouragement of the Dadas throughout the hackathon. 🧡
