I'm not sure a lot of people understand what game coders actually do. We're not spending 9 hours a day finely hand crafting artisan software and expressing our inner dreams... 90% of the time we are fighting compilers and existing architecture, having to work out how undocumented code works, and tracking down obscure bugs and behavioural issues.
Most of game programming is just difficult, tedious, laborious grunt work, and the cognitive load we have to endure to get anything done is tiring and frustrating. No game coder is doing it for this 90% of the job.
We make games because the 10% that IS actually about making things fun and expressing ourselves is so incredibly rewarding it makes the other 90% bearable.
Now imagine if there was a tool, some kind of AI agent maybe, which could do most of the 90% grunt work for you, leaving you to just make all the decisions and express your creativity. How amazing would that be. How completely revolutionary would that be.

COD is starting to become like the Indian street cooking videos where they do all these flashy fast hand movements and head shaking for no reason.

Vibe coder:
prompt -> app release -> 0 revenue
Software engineer:
Rent vps -> prompt -> build their own software factory system before build the app -> write hundreds of markdown spec -> thinking of scalability from day 1 -> mocking vibe coder -> app release -> 0 revenue

These days, you should be building lots of tools for yourself.
Build a tool to polish an animation, lots of knobs to fine tune.
A tool to visualise performance issues.
A tool to populate your UI with realistic data.
Leverage AI to build a tool that builds *the* tool.

"I used to be satisfied just playing video games. Then I found I required more… unusual entertainment."
"Hunting and killing live human beings?"
"No. Vibecoding useless software."

people think AI users are lazy. it's the opposite. i've never worked this much in my life. the difference is that now the hours go into the thing i actually care about, not into fighting tools i don't understand
