Last night i volunteered for the Mass Bar Association’s Dial A Lawyer Program. I received a called from an 82 year old veteran who went to renew his driver’s license at the RMV but was rejected because of the new INSANE proof of “lawful presence documents” 1/6
He cannot collect benefits because he has an expired license. He cannot pick up his lottery winnings because he has an expired license. He cannot receive health insurance Because he has an expired license 5/6
@MassAGO please look into the constitutionality of these new requirements to prove “lawful presence” because these will disproportionately impact disadvantaged groups. @MassRMV @BosPublicRadio 6/6

Not on my watch. This is just another cruel (& illegal) attempt by the Trump Admin & ICE to stir up uncertainty & punish immigrants. Our state is home to thousands of international students who shouldn’t fear deportation or health risks in order to get an education. We will sue.

Folks did you know that HALF OF ALL AMERICANS have an immediate family member who is currently or formerly incarcerated. This is a HUGE population of people that is consistently ignored in the election cycle. Mind boggling.

I was honored to welcome Muhammad Iqbal Lala to speak at Oxford Uni. His son, Mashal Khan, was brutally killed by a mob in Mardan Pakistan, based on malicious allegations of blasphemy. Mashal advocated against injustice & corruption. We stand with Lala to seek justice for Mashal.
