Yes!!! Let's be clear, #ExceptionsAreNoProtection!! As someone who has helped people try and navigate these rules, the are not giving what they are supposed to give. They don't improve access. They don't improve care. They shame, harm and stigmatize all people who need abortions.
Abortion ban exceptions for "medical emergencies" fail so many people needing timely care. The wonky legal language is intentionally confusing to navigate. It's not applicable to the way medicine works. People should be able to access abortions they need, regardless of reason.

🧵The USA does not have “tight presidential races” It has an ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM designed by the 18th century American slavocracy as a way to shift more power to the states dominated by slaveowners

Happy Birthday to Emmett Till. He would've been 82 years old today. At just 14, two white men kidnapped and brutally murdered him through mutilation for 'whistling' at a white woman. decades later, Carolyn Bryant admitted to lying that Emmett Till made a pass at her. THREAD

Emmett Till should be 82 today. His mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, ensured that the world saw how gruesomely her 14 year-old child was murdered. Racism isn’t disagreement. Families grieve. Communities mourn. Dreams wither. Humanity suffers. People perish. Remember Emmett Till.

And no one should be shocked --this whitewashing of our history has been the goal of anti-woke-ism from the beginning. It was never about CRT or indoctrination, but about erasing the historical predicate for antiracist policies and knowledge. We must fight back. #Freedom2Learn
New curriculum standards in DeSantis-land claim enslaved Africans “developed skills that could be used for personal benefit”. They’re rewriting history to make chattel #slavery sound like Job Corps. Insulting! We need real #BlackHistory in every classroom. nytimes.com/2023/07/21/us/de…
