Day 3 of Guinea Pig Awareness Week .
We’ve covered hay and veg already so I thought I’d tackle the controversial one - nuggets!
Essentially piggies don’t need nuggets/ commercial guinea pig food. Shock. If you fed enough hay, forage and veg they don’t actually need them.
Day 2 of Guinea Pig Awareness Week
Let’s talk veggies!! VARIETY is key!! We feed a minimum of 3 different veggies a day and at least 10+ varieties a week. Veg should make up 10-15% of their daily diet. Piggies, like humans cannot make their own vitamin c. #guineapigawarenessweek
It’s Guinea pig awareness week!!!
Let’s start with HAY.
Hay should be at least 80% of your guinea pigs daily diet. It’s should be in big piles so that they can forage through it.
Hay is essential for digestion and wearing down the teeth.
We use 5 bales of hay a week!
Hay is life

Rusty is a 6 year old lady that joined us yesterday. She’s come here to retire after the loss of her buddies. Our retirement spaces are now very limited. We also have no boar/male piggy spaces available. This is due to lack of funds.

Suns out so I’m washing the piggies step stools. They absolutely love these to hide under. We particularly like to use them in the summer as they have air flow. They are also great during bonding as they have multiple exits. I’ll pack these away and get a new selection out 🌼🩷🌸
This is Posy and Pippa. Mother and daughter age 3 and 2. They have been much loved and their owners drove 2 1/2 hours to bring them to us 🩷🩷
