Variegated cutworm eggs laid in the shape of Alabama? on the siding of my house. How do I know? I found a similar clutch (different shape) a couple years ago, observed emergence of caterpillars, offered a variety of host plants & reared them to a stage where I could ID them.

CICADA SIGHTING: Laura Allen-Wilham sent us these photos of a cicada she spotted in Liberty. 🙅‍♂️😳 Have you spotted any cicadas where you live? Billions of 'Brood X' cicadas will apparently come up from the ground in the Eastern U.S. after living underground for 17 years.

Besides a lot of cicada knowledge, you'll learn some things about the cohosts like: Who has FOMO? Who has test anxiety? Who can choose a good nickname? Who was on an academic team in high school? Who missed out on high fives? Listen to the end of the show for our silly nugget🤪
Two of our cohosts work & reside in regions where Brood X Periodical #cicadas are emerging, so we HAD talk about them! @JodyBugsMeUNL hosted a quiz bowl for @bugmanjon & @mskvarla36. Find out who the champion is & learn a little more about cicadas! arthro-pod.blogspot.com/2021…
