Spain is exploding and it was only a matter of time before this would happen.
One of the best and most versatile ships in the fleet today. We may not have escort carriers, but this is the closest thing to it today. Although they can’t accommodate F-35Bs, they can carry any size helicopter plus V-22 Ospreys. Useful for convoy escort, amphibious assault, moving supplies, or even blockade duty as they are doing off Iran now, this is a way for the Navy to have a versatile warship at a very economical price.

Reminds me so much of the British government thinking that fighting in France and Belgium in WW1 was such a great idea. And how did that work out for a generation of British men lost in places like Ypres or the Somme. Ukraine is NOT NATO's war and as of now not an inch of NATO territory has been invaded by Russian troops. It seems that the UK and NATO would have their hands full just defending NATO territory without having to embark on an adventure in Ukraine that could very well lead to WW3.
xitter.cf/weiqi_xiulang/status/2… Always liked the San Antonio class ships. They're probably the best LPDs in the world. Wish we had more of them too, especially if there ever is a war in the Pacific against China.
xitter.cf/WarshipCam/status/2114… Very impressive frigate. Wish the US could build something like that.

If it was that inadequate a design, then it should not have been accepted by the Navy to begin with. Instead, they took a frigate, changed about 80% of it, and were ending up with a small destroyer rather than a frigate. Worse, to make all these huge changes while a ship was in the process of being built, shows a level of negligence only a bloated and wasteful bureaucracy could come up with. And NAVSEA didn't inform anyone what this monstrosity of the FREMM design would finally cost along the way. And with such stellar "successes" as the LCS and the Zumwalt destroyer, it's a wonder they don't just shut down NAVSEA altogether. If they did, we might actually have ships built on time and on budget, and what a concept that would be.

xitter.cf/ReadyAyeReady/status/2… Canada should be building more OPVs since it's anyone's guess when their new frigates will be completed, let alone commissioned. At least these new OPVs give additional presence for coastal patrols and even foreign visits and naval exercises, something the UK Royal Navy has been doing with their River class OPVs. Their Halifax frigates are very old now and need to be replaced. At least this might help, just like the River class is taking some pressure off of the Royal Navy's rapidly aging and diminishing number of frigates.

xitter.cf/DramaWarship/status/21… A murderer's row of battleships and aircraft carriers you will never see again. Amazing.

Don't even think about it. The fastest way to screw up a design for anything is to give it to the US Navy. The FREMM frigate was an excellent design already in service with 2 navies, yet NAVSEA managed to butcher it so much while trying to create the Constellation class frigate that they ended up having to scrap the whole program losing billions in the process. If the Navy is determined to build a ship that is over budget and way behind schedule, at least let it be an American design.
Always like seeing new OPVs being designed and built. Given the astronomical cost of frigates today, you may be seeing more nations turning to OPVs and drones for coastal defense.
Evstafi
Lead ship of her class of pre-dreadnought battleships (1906). It would be five years from her launching to her commissioning though as construction was to implement lessons learned during the Russo-Japanese War.
Evstafi and her sister ship formed the core of the Russian Black Sea Fleet at the outbreak of the war, and as such fought the Goeben and Breslau multiple times before her role was reduced with the introduction of Russian dreadnoughts to the fleet in 1915.
Crippled by the British in 1919 when they withdrew from Sevastopol, Evstafi was scrapped by the Soviets in 1922.

xitter.cf/liderfiscal/status/211… And the real question should be "Why now?" This video and these statements from the British government are starting to send the UK into a panic. Is a major cyberwar expected soon? Will it be from Iran if President Trump unleashes another round of bombings in Iran? Iran has already tried to attack one RAF base, so why isn't a larger attack plausible? People just don't dream up these warnings for no reason. There must be a credible threat and it could happen soon.
