Yeah they probably would've sent Clone Assassins after Anakin. Padme may have been able to resign and leave Jar Jar in charge but considering they considered Clone desertion an executable offense.....

Anakin was a public figure and a commissioned officer of the Republic. Padme was a Senator. She wouldn't leave and even if she did no way could either of them get away with it.
