Accepting the fact that it is pointless and nobody that will ever read it is part of the process! It's more of a grieving process than a writing process! Become a writer!

Read @RebeccaSolnit and absorb that hope is not a bird in the sky you hope lands near you, it’s an active orientation. You find it in the care for someone else or something else outside of yourself. It’s bigger than you. It’s an act of cultivation. Rub two sticks together.
Thank you so, @_jackiewong, for reading and writing about my work with such care. Also, I'm so glad that you found the book funny! 💙💕
It was an honour to read and write about your beautiful book, @byteresawong. 💐thetyee.ca/Culture/2024/10/2…

This is a quick little reminder that if you like a book, especially a book that came out with a small press, review it on the internet! Say nice things about it online! It really does matter!
Such a fun interview!
On our latest podcast, we chat with author & cartoonist @byteresawong about recounting a century of her family's history in China and Canada in her new graphic memoir "All Our Ordinary Stories: A Multigenerational Family Odyssey" - Listen now at: player.captivate.fm/episode/…

Just to be clear: in June, a group of @GillerPrize winners raised the money to fund this year's prize for winner and shortlist. Not anywhere near $100,000 but a meaningful amount. We offered it. It was turned down. Yes, it is on the record. No, I will not share private emails.
Stephen Marche points out that no Giller-winner turned critic has returned the money. "The kind of people who take cash from prizes that they then accuse of supporting genocide have so little integrity that they can be of no use to their allies; it is much better to have them as enemies." theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

Thank you @TorontoStar and @LP_LaPresse for publishing our letter, signed by eight winners of the @GillerPrize. We have benefited, and also participated in @scotiabank public relations. It is not out of line, I feel, to ask them to listen to the artists they claim to respect.

Look, they still televise golf. Your novel's pacing is fine.
I had a lot of fun with this interview! Thanks, @paulsemel 💙💕
It's both a great & terrible time to be an immigrant. But it is in such times that we often get the best art. In this Q&A with cartoonist Teresa Wong, "a child of Chinese-Canadian immigrants," she talks about her memoir "All Our Ordinary Stories."

As Ta-Nehisi Coates said, “I want to be a really decent person and a great writer. That’s what I want out of my life. And that’s not small, by the way. Like, being a decent person is not a small thing and it’s not an easy thing, by the way. It really, really isn’t.” Lock in.
It's publication day for All Our Ordinary Stories! 💙💕@Arsenalpulp
