Behind the meter gas power has become a common path for data centers to get power faster. But it turns out operating a city-scale utility is no joke (turbine shafts breaking, low uptimes). It's hell for social licenes (if you think communities hate data centers, try data centers with 40 jet engines running non-stop!). And it leaves these facilities quite exposed to future gas price risk, as Aniruddh illustrates below.
Interesting sections on energy in Anthropic's S1 filing! There's been speculation on how data centers are managing fuel price risk from gas offtake, whether off-grid data centers will happen at scale - 'an increasing share of data centers being developed with dedicated onsite generation independent of the grid' - ANT exposed to fuel price volatility as they bear cost on a pass-through basis, no cap on fuel costs - Lack of firm gas supply can delay facilities - For grid connected assets, ANT discusses 'investing in curtailment systems' to reduce strain during peak periods - Cooling needs may increase over time for data centers due to changing climate - Notes risk that utilities may reallocate capacity required by ANT data centers

2022: Francesca Albanese praises Dr. Alice Jill Edwards as “extraordinary” and her appointment as “fantastic.” 2026: After Dr. Edwards revealed Albanese's refusal to report on Hamas torture of hostages, she suddenly attacks her: “When lies is all one has left to stay relevant.”

If you support Hamas, you’re a nutter. That includes people in Gaza who support Hamas. The two MPs murdered over here were both killed by nutters (one Neo-Nazi, one Islamist). Cooked religions & ideologies go well with nutterdom. Part of dealing with this problem is holding nutters accountable & not making excuses for them.

Apparently this was an assassination attempt against a serving member of the Australian Parliament. I completely denounce it and condemn it

🔴 Iran Update: There is an absolute IRGC bloodbath happening in the Iranian region of Sistan & Balochestan. Assassinations everywhere and almost daily. I haven't spoken much about this particular battlefield. As an Iranian nationalist I will never approve of separatism, nor will I blindly praise the JMM militant group. I don't know this group, and as of writing this I don't trust them either. They claim to fight for all of Iran after merging several militant groups together, but at least one faction among them are historically Baloch separatists. They are also very conservative sunni muslims. Therefore, I won't boost their videos or statements for the time being. Until I know where the Shah and his team stand regarding this group and where they stand regarding him, I won't give them my attention. However, I can speak about what the last few weeks of fighting could mean for Iran: Regardless of what I think of JMM, their targets have Iranian blood on their hands and undoubtedly deserve it. IRGC thugs, basijis, regime linked clerics and foreign proxy terrorists are all being killed at a growing rate. Police stations, bases and checkpoints are raided. Patrols come under attack as they drive through cities. There's been at least one case of fighting reaching the Kerman region. Today, a female basiji commander was assassinated in front of her house. Yesterday, dozens of Afghan proxy terrorists were wiped out. Last month, a regime linked sunni cleric was shot dead. Many of the assassinations are very high ranking. I don't know what suddenly changed, but it's gotten very deadly and dangerous to be an islamic regime figure in S&B. What does all of this mean? 1) The islamic regime is losing control. 2) Regime thugs used to feel safe and protected. Now they don't. Psychologically this will do serious damage, especially to lower ranking demoralised basijis who aren't receiving their blood money salaries anymore due to sanctions. 3) If this keeps up, the islamic regime will have to send large forces from other regions to go fight in S&B. I shouldn't have to explain that this will benefit the rest of Iran when the next uprising happens. Thousands of IRGC terrorists forced to fight in the South East means thousands fewer IRGC to oppress Iranians in other provinces. It means evening out the playing field. Again, this is an analysis, not an endorsement of JMM. They still need to clarify their stance on Iran's territorial integrity, their stance on the Shah, and their stance on separatism and islamism. We also need to know what their actual goal is once the islamic regime is overthrown. Until then, as far as I'm concerned, the IRGC is getting killed in big numbers from within Iran and seemingly without any outside assistance, and that's what I will focus on. What's happening in S&B is going to have huge consequences for Iran in the coming months, and everyone should pay attention.

Next up, the government needs to reasses the $128,700 Journalism Assistance Fund grant to the cookers at Michael West Media who have not stopped their racist portrayal of Jews as fake victims who deserve no sympathy after October 7 and the Bondi shooting, and promoting conspiracies such as that the "Israel lobby" is the source of Australia's ills... all while refusing to cover Islamic extremism and terrorism. On top of this, they platform Philip Soos, who wrote: “Previously I never questioned the Holocaust and the ‘6m’ figure. Then when the jews screech incessantly about completely fabricated stories of ‘40 beheaded babies’ and ‘mass rapes’… you start to wonder.” He also promoted a Ron Unz Holocaust article and claimed “the jew” undermines “White civilisation.” They also published Farah Abdurahman, who denied Jewish women were raped on October 7 because rape is forbidden in Islam. Michael West himself has been one of the most toxic, nasty bullies in the Australia media scene. The grant was supposed to support public-interest journalism and SOCIAL COHESION. Instead taxpayers are funding this conspiratorial, low IQ and anti-Australian slop. If One Path was a mistake, this one deserves the same scrutiny.
A step in the right direction 👏 We need to protect Australia and Australians. Funding hateful Islamic extremist organisations like One Path was a huge mistake, and it's depressing that the decision was even made in the first place. Thankfully the grant has been withdrawn. dailytelegraph.com.au/news/n…

Ukraine's new campaign of destroying Russia's data centers will prove devastating for Putin's economy and war machine if the White House is unable to prevent it. The chaos we're already seeing across Russia is only four days into the campaign and 3 facilities targeted.

Western rightists are a Russian op
If confirmed, this is telling: Russian data centres get hit, and online activity around AfD suddenly plummets. 📉 So much talk about German patriotism… then the connection from Russia goes down. 🤔🇷🇺

A prescient warning from one of the founders of the Australian Greens
I participated in the anti-Vietnam War and anti-conscription movement of the late 60s and early 70s. I opposed Australian and US involvement in the war but did not support the Communist leadership of the Vietnamese resistance because they were clearly going to institute a one-party state. I was critical of my own government but did not support its violent overthrow. Some in the movement however did support the Communists and did support the violent overthrow of capitalism and, especially in the US, this took the form of the terrorist organisation -the Weather Underground - that carried out numerous bombings. I am worried that history is about to repeat itself, only more dangerously this time. While I support the call for peace in the Middle East and am critical of the policies of both Trump and Netanyahu, there is a line that I think the pro-Palestine movement must not cross but are in great danger of doing so. The calls for the destruction of Israel, the glorification of the authoritarian, terrorist, Islamist groups Hamas, the blanket condemnation of “Zionism” and calls to “globalise the intifada” (both of which imply that any Jew around the world who supports the state of Israel is a target) all buy into a narrative that fails to notice when red lines get crossed. I greatly fear we will see the emergence of home-grown terrorism in the coming period from a small minority who have bought this narrative and crossed the red line into violence.
