🚨 URGENT EMERGENCY ART COMMISSIONS 🚨 i’m genuinely at a loss right now, and i’m asking for help because i don’t know what else to do. for some context, i’m currently in insolvency proceedings, and money has been incredibly tight since i had to take a medical leave from work to seek treatment and recover from severe mental health issues. i’ve been doing everything i can to get myself back on my feet financially, but today, my bank withdrew everything i had managed to put into savings to cover the negative balance on my account. that money was supposed to go towards an incredibly important payment. i’m now $350 short, and missing this payment is something i absolutely cannot afford to do. the mortgage that was used to consolidate my vehicle and debt payments is secured against my parents’ home. missing this payment could severely affect their credit and potentially put their home at risk. this isn’t just about me anymore. my parents have already done so much to help me, and the thought of putting them in an even more difficult position genuinely terrifies me. three art commissions. that’s all i need to make up the difference. back when my financial situation was considerably better, i used to regularly commission my friends and other artists, or simply send monetary gifts to people i cared about. sometimes it was $25, sometimes it was well over $100. i did it because i wanted to, because i could, and because being able to support the people around me was something that genuinely brought me joy. in all that time, i’d never really experienced that same kindness in return without there eventually being conditions attached, expectations placed upon me, or even chargebacks issued afterwards. so, to say that i’m overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity i’ve received today would be an understatement. the payment i’ve been desperately trying to make wasn’t something i could afford to miss. it was quite literally the deciding factor between potentially losing my vehicle to repossession or putting my parents’ home at risk because of the financial obligations tied to it. for a little more context, i spent three months on medical leave from june to september, during which i lost approximately $3,900 in regular income. that’s nearly $4,000 i would ordinarily have had available to cover my living expenses, financial obligations, and everything else that doesn’t simply disappear because someone needs time away from work to recover. i’m also currently in a legally binding consumer proposal (a court-issued debt relief program), which means i have no available credit of any kind to fall back on. i don’t have a credit card for emergencies, a line of credit to bridge the gap between payments, or the ability to simply borrow my way out of a difficult situation. every unexpected expense has to come directly out of the money i already have, and when that money isn’t there, i have very few options available to me. i’ve been desperately trying to find my footing again, balancing my finances, keeping up with my obligations, and trying to recover from everything that led to my medical leave in the first place. it’s been incredibly difficult, and there have been moments where i’ve genuinely felt like i was drowning. i don’t share any of this to make anyone feel obligated to help me. i know that everyone is dealing with their own struggles, and i would never expect someone to put themselves in a difficult financial position for my sake. but to those who came forward, whether you commissioned me, donated, shared my post, or simply offered a few words of kindness, please understand just how much your generosity means to me. i’ve spent so much of my life trying to be there for other people that finding myself on the receiving end of that same kindness, especially when i have so little to offer in return right now, is something i’m still struggling to put into words. i’m genuinely humbled. more than i can properly express. you’ve helped alleviate a tremendous amount of financial pressure during one of the most difficult periods of my life, and you’ve reminded me that kindness doesn’t always have to come with conditions, expectations, or something owed in return. i don’t think i’ll ever be able to adequately express how much that means to me. from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
