There is a fun evolutionary idea that “crabs are peak performance”. That is, nature tries to diversify forms through but end up at crabs through multiple routes.
One of my favorite evolution facts: crab morphology is an attractor point of the crustacean evolution manifold. Various crustacean species independently tend to become crab-like over time.
