π¨ PHP warns of two critical vulnerabilities as emergency patches arrive tomorrow
The PHP security team will release updates on October 21 at 14:00 UTC for two vulnerabilities, each rated 9.2 under CVSS v4.0.
β
Security researchers identified the flaws as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 and described them as remote code execution vulnerabilities reportedly affecting PHP versions 5 through 8.
PHP has not yet confirmed the affected versions, exploitation requirements or fixed releases.
β
The vulnerabilities were reportedly leaked before their planned disclosure. Researchers said they have not observed active exploitation, while PHP warned it may release the patches early if technical details become public or exploitation is detected.
β
Administrators should identify PHP installations now and prepare to apply the updates as soon as they become available.
Plenty of annoying wind today...and that's pretty much the theme for the rest of the work week. Bit stronger tomorrow and Thursday before it relaxes late in the week. Gale Warnings up for the coastal waters.
What a day today! Warmest until sometime next Spring? We'll see what 'The Nino' has to say but safe bet.

we kind of got hosed today...April-May-esque with the murky overcast and onshore flow while the Mid-Atlantic and interior Northeast cooked with 70s and 80s.

This El NiΓ±o keeps breaking records.
Off Peru, surface waters are as much as 8.9Β°C (16Β°F) above average, while subsurface temperatures reach 10.5Β°C (18.9Β°F) above average.
In parts of the central Pacific, water above 25Β°C (77Β°F) extends to a depth of 150 m (500 ft)!

Still almost a week out but pretty good model agreement right now on a shot of chilly air next weekend. More like mid to late November than mid-October

Will it be a snowy winter? Here's what the latest data shows! βοΈ
A record El NiΓ±o will bring ample moisture to the U.S. this winter β outside of the Pacific Northwest β but that moisture won't always be met with cold air.
That's especially true in December, when the Northeast and Great Lakes are confidently predicted to have less snow than average.
On these maps, areas with a dashed outline mean that five out of six models agree on the outcome shown, which conveys confidence. These maps are best interpreted as a broad estimate of winter snowfall patterns, rather than a precise forecast for any one location.
From December into January, a signal grows for more snow than normal across the West and Plains, stretching from California's Sierra Nevada to Denver and maybe even Dallas.
There's also a bubble of above average snow that develops over the southern and central Appalachians, including Atlanta, Columbia, South Carolina as well as Charlotte and Raleigh in North Carolina.
A similar snow signal continues into February.
Although there's a relatively strong signal for less snow than normal across New England all winter, the rest of the Northeast is a more interesting case.
There will likely be many big coastal storms which could bring rain to the coast but the potential for significant snow inland.
These "high ceiling" storms appear to be a wildcard in the winter ahead.
It will all depend on whether there's enough cold air in place to cash in on all that moisture as snow.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.
This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.
Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.
Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.
Abolish ICE.
