Not sure why people can’t comprehend how student loan/debt should be treated as a scandal. Most of us were TOLD at school…. When we were CHILDREN, you’ll get a loan which will have minimal impact on you, don’t worry about it too much, just apply on UCAS and hope for the best. No one told us about the increase of crippling interest, how it will affect your ability to buy a house and your general take home income, with little hope of paying it off….. No one thought …. Let’s ensure these financial products are fully understood by these bunch of KIDS who have never even had a credit card or an overdraft in life. How can people understand misselling for car loans, Accident claims, loans sharks, but not this??

Spray paint a plane and they'll detain you without trial and call you a terrorist. Kidnap the foreign head of state - and Keir Starmer will make it clear we've played no part in it but will wait for the scheduled press conference in a few hours before potentially condemning it.

Among women giving birth vaginally, up to 85% of first time mothers sustain perineal tears that require suturing. Perineal injuries have been neglected and deprioritised, at the expense of women’s health and wellbeing bmj.com/content/391/bmj.r253…

A recent poll commissioned by the @DHSCgovuk showed something crystal clear: an overwhelming majority of resident doctors support strike action. Instead of telling the public that, the Department of Health briefed journalists using a different question that didn’t measure doctors support of the strikes, to try and sell the opposite. When the department responsible for our health service has to twist its own data to make doctors look unreasonable, it tells you everything you need to know about the state of this Government. Resident doctors are striking because the Government refuses to urgently fix the jobs and doctor unemployment crisis, won’t meaningfully expand speciality training places despite 30,000 doctors applying for 10,000 training posts this year, won’t urgently prioritise UK graduates for those same training posts, and is still recommending a real terms pay cut next year on top of our severe pay erosion. If the Department of Health genuinely wanted good faith negotiation, they’d engage with these issues instead of trying to discredit the very workforce holding the NHS together. Doctors deserve honesty. Patients deserve a functioning NHS. The Department of Health needs to stop spinning and start fixing the crisis. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Now we know why Rishi Sunak refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure. #PMQs

Nurses don’t want to strike. Ambulance workers don’t want to strike. Patients don’t want NHS strikes. So why does the Government continue to refuse to negotiate with the unions who want a deal to avoid strikes?

“As of today, 19th September 2025, exception reporting reform has been published….These changes are radical, and intended to entirely prevent hostile employers from withholding compensation from doctors for the additional hours that we work.” Read how we got here: reddit.com/r/doctorsUK/s/CcS…

Right so you should be able to see that there is much cause for concern from many doctors who want to train that there are situations where it has been deemed appropriate by some that nurse consultants are considered legitimate to supervise registrars for outpatient clinics. That's not because she is a nurse consultant. It's because she was not a doctor. The same would be said if it were a paramedic, a physio, a psychologist, a pharmacist. Whilst each discipline is important in providing care in certain settings, we are not interchangeable and so it is not possible nor safe for any discipline to supervise a registrar for the whole scope of a clinic. Highlighting instances where people are stepping outside of scope, outside of what is certainly their competence, is not about attacking. It is about recognising the boundaries and limits of professional responsibilities which is indeed something taught in the four pillars of nursing as well as our own training. And if one were to think that that is in some way elitist or inappropriate then frankly they are insulting the medical component of the MDT.
