i really don’t understand this idea that there is some concept of “good code” or “clean code” that existed totally independently of code that works correctly, performs well, and is easy to understand and modify. but i guess i was never a Ruby programmer.
this sent me down a bit of a rabbit whole and now I have kache installed and ported my filesystem to btrfs with zstd compression
~10x less disk usage when working with multiple worktrees
significantly faster compile times
amazing stuff

Another sneak peak:
Every binary #nix #nixpkgs ever shipped, on your PATH.
Nothing installed. Nothing built.
0 bytes on disk until something actually reads a file. 😈
Oh yea, and this works on any Linux distro (*cough* @OmarchyLinux ) and inside @Docker

additional funny part: llvm didn't get folded into gcc because of rms's idiosyncratic email setup lists.gnu.org/archive/html/e…

let's talk about squash merge! squash merge is a great example of how interfaces affect how we think about and manage our work because pull requests are based on branches, the unit of change is 1 *or more* commits

Replying to @Pix3l_Peeper
Linus Torvalds created Linux. And there is nothing inherently political about software.
It’s about freedom of choice.
i don't understand why people need things like cargo-hakari. why not just declare the full set of features needed by all crates on the workspace Cargo.toml? is it really that important that each crate specifies it's own set of features for each dep? i don't think so
my pre-CI step that usually takes 40 seconds to run now hangs without any indication of something going wrong #watdatmean

The dishonesty of Fil-C comes from its complete ignorance of this reality and instead the constant comparison against Rust, it’s not a Rust competitor, it’s exploring a different trade-off space. Its innovation is keeping you in C (usability) trading performance.
downright irresponsible to use this shit in production
Fascinating to look at PRs in the Bun repo: much of it is AI reviewers talking with AI bots...!
CodeRabbit and Claude review bot talking with Robobun. Screenshot from this PR: github.com/oven-sh/bun/pull/…
it saddens me that jj, a tool with otherwise perfect defaults, has really bad default revsets for `jj bookmark advance`, forcing me to fix it on my own config
`bookmark-advance-from` doesn't have the `& ~immutable()` part, meaning that when you merge trunk into your PR branch advancing the bookmark moves both your PR bookmark _and_ trunk. ridiculous.
