Wondering where I’ve been these past few months? I can explain! 😂
Back in May, RoRo shipping delays pushed me to travel across the U.S. to figure out container shipping and build a better alternative
Did I learn the hard way? Absolutely. 😭
Stories on Carlofty. Stay tuned! 🧵

Imagine buying a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE350 for ₦29.4 million when it costs approximately ₦38.6 million to import the same car.
That’s over ₦9 million in potential savings on one vehicle. 👀
We’re building something interesting for Nigerian car dealers. 🧵
Car prices might change in Nigeria.
But before you start thinking, “Ah, so cars are about to become cheaper,” there’s a bit more to it.
Three things are happening at the same time:
- Import levies are coming down
- The naira has gotten stronger
- Shipping and logistics have gotten more expensive
So what does all of this mean if you’re looking to buy a car? 🧵

If you know an established car dealer who needs capital to import vehicles, we now offer import financing!
Terms:
• 30% equity contribution
• 2.5% one-time management fee
• 4.5% interest rate
• Existing inventory as collateral
DM me if you’re interested!
The way your vehicle is shipped can make a real difference in its protection, security, and the peace of mind you have while waiting for it to arrive.
That’s why many luxury car dealers and buyers choose container shipping over RoRo, especially when the vehicle is something they can’t afford to compromise on.
Does that mean RoRo is a bad option? Not at all. It’s a reliable and cost-effective shipping method used every day around the world.
But if your priority is giving your vehicle an extra layer of protection throughout its journey, container shipping is worth considering.
Swipe through to see why so many car dealers prefer it.

We’re currently finalizing partnerships with several microfinance institutions to provide inventory financing for qualified auto dealers.
Proposed Terms:
• Credit Line: Starting at $100,000 (with room to increase based on utilization and repayment history)
• Duration: Up to 6 months
• Management Fee: 3%
• Interest Rate: 4%–4.5%
• Collateral: Vehicles in your inventory, or we can provide collateral support for an additional 1% fee
If you’re an auto dealer interested in expanding inventory without tying up all your working capital, send me a message and I’ll add you to the waiting list.
We’re also actively looking to connect with additional lenders, microfinance institutions, private credit funds, and financing partners interested in supporting the automotive trade sector.
If that’s you, let’s talk.

I had the opportunity of loading up a container while I was in Baltimore and scheduled for 3 more to load
However, the condition of the yard did not reflect the standard with which we’ve built our brand on
Clean cars belong to a clean loading yard, so cheers to a new yard!

After Grimaldi abandoned cars in Freeport for close to 3 months and me just getting tired of keys and other parts belonging to our sallaum clients getting stolen, I decided that it’s time to start shipping containers.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be visiting all corners of the U.S to ensure we have a loading dock for our containers.
This week, we are actively loading in Baltimore, Jacksonville and LA .

Another day, another close call with a fraudulent transporter.
Today, a fraudulent transporter tried to steal an expensive luxury car that would have costed us over 250M to replace for the client!!

Every single day, a luxury car gets stolen.
You never try shipping a luxury car without a few thieves calling you for it. We see this every day, and that's why we take security extremely seriously.
We've withstood pressure from clients to skip certain steps, but we're not about to let some dumbass fuck up what we've been slaving away to build for years.
I'll be writing a thread on all the security measures we take when transporting luxury vehicles and why we've never lost a single car.

A ₦10 million Nigerian-used car can end up costing you more than a ₦13 million foreign-used car.
Not on the day you buy it.
But in the months that follow.
Repairs. Breakdowns. Replacements. Stress.
Let’s talk about why buyers pay more upfront for a foreign-used car.🧵
