I overthink everything (including this bio). Archives. Fiction. Reading (and hopefully Writing). Opinions mine (of course). Love cats and parentheses.

When Ida hit, Special Collections in Alexander flooded. It’s not as if this couldn’t have been predicted. It’s a recurring issue. Now, they're are closed for the academic year. If only these archival documents could throw a football... @ruaaup #RUtheWorst #PayRUFacilitiesWorkers.

This article explains the ancestral origins of my new novel THE ARCHIVIST, just released from @BlackstoneAudio @carynradick @archivists_org @ArchivistsTale and how inspiration can come at you from anywhere and change your life!
When Rex Pickett (@RexPickett), the author of "Sideways," sent his papers off to be catalogued, he never expected to find inspiration for his next novel.

I was excited to have my blurb quoted on the jacket of @RexPickett’s The Archivist, out today. I was really happy to see the entire blurb on Amazon, since it mentions the surfacing of hidden labor and workplace issues as well.
We have such good looking cats! #AskAnArchivist
Thanks everyone for a wonderful #AskAnArchivist Day! After a long day of archiving, there is nothing like hanging out with the cats of SC/UA.

FREE autographed copy of my new novel THE ARCHIVIST out Nov. 9 @BlackstoneAudio for the best short story featuring an #archivist or set in the #archival world. Must be new. Deadline is publication date of my novel. Send to my name at gmail. RT #AskAnArchivist
Having hopped back on Twitter again after a hiatus, I feel compelled to share this picture of a slug I found on my kitchen floor this morning. He got moved out.
Surfacing and amplifying archival labor is definitely a frequent topic of discussion in the profession. Although I am thinking I should try to look more enigmatic in my own photos..I'd even settle for pensive. #AskAnArchivist (coming on Weds)!

Hi Max. @Rutgers_SCUA archivists have quite a few cats between them and you'll be seeing more of them on Weds. for #AskAnArchivist
The archivist who processed my friend @RexPickett 's papers has three felines. I know how hard archivists work b/c sometimes they go 12 hrs. w/o seeing her. #AskAnArchivist @archivists_org @AskArchivists @Rutgers_SCUA
Interesting question for #AskAnArchivist day! Maybe people can't handle the truths we know? Reminds me of how much I loved "History Detectives"(my dream job) on PBS back in the day. Showcased archival work to solve mysteries.
@carynradick @geofhuth #AskAnArchivist day this Weds. Why do you think archivists are so underrepresented in Film and TV? To me, they're like detectives: they scour personal lives in search of the truth & quietly present it as evidence in an archive. The stories are endless!

I'm looking forward to #AskAnArchivist day this Weds. I'm the alter ego of a semi-famous writer and I tweet things he won't. Meow.
Looking forward to comparing the audio to the print!
Terrific article by NYT op-ed writer Farhad Manjoo on the rise of audiobooks and why they're taking over. My THE ARCHIVIST comes out Nov. 9, in both print and audio @BlackstoneAudio and I couldn't be more excited! @carynradick @RickBleiweiss The article: nytimes.com/2021/10/06/opini…
So thrilled to have this piece out and a pleasure working with @nursingclio
"I had heard that story somewhere: an appendectomy that was really a sterilization, but couldn’t pin it down... Suddenly I knew – Helen Hurd had written about an appendectomy that wasn’t an appendectomy in her memoir." Archivist @carynradick reports.

Am wearing my @archivists_org COPA chair hat, at our table across from the registration area with @kitchensisters who will be accepting their Jameson award #saa19 #archivesAWARE
I love finding things for the #ChronAmParty s! Some interesting takes on space in old newspapers.
The NJ Digital Newspaper project launches into the #ChronAmPartyInSpace with a July 18, 1919 Perth Amboy Evening News story of a cataclysm coming on December 17. How did that turn out? Stay tuned! go.rutgers.edu/u1mm60vs

Hi. I'm Caryn. I'm chair of the Committee on Public Awareness. Excited to be doing this #snaprt chat.
A1, I've always liked things that weren't *about* archives or archivists but had them "snuck" in to the story #snaprt (I like things about archivists, too, but when they show the records room in a police procedural, I'll shout out "archives!"
