After watching 50+ HS Spring games so far:
-Body language is either A+ or F- & looks like there will be very few A+’s handed out. Don’t let any play/pitch take your dignity.
-Pleasantly surprised with 8 guys I didn’t know about before this spring, keep it up 👍
-Pitchers: please vary your looks w/runners on base & attack hitters 0-2, 1-2. It only took 2-3 pitches to get 2 K’s, shouldn’t take 3-4 more to get an out.
-Catchers - if it hits the dirt, block it, or at least go down to try. Too many balls hitting the backstop this year.
-Hitters: It’s just a curveball, it won’t kill you if you swing at it. What goes up, usually comes down in the wheelhouse.
-Baserunners: 4% of you are doing an excellent job. 96% of you deserved to get yelled at. Leads, secondaries, anticipating balls in the dirt, practice it.
-OF: Taking an angle to a ball in the gap won’t kill you.
-INF: Internal clock. Internal clock. Internal clock.
-Last thing: I’ve seen 7 pitchers who take 20+ seconds PER PITCH, 2 who took 30 seconds. Your defense is gonna kick whatever gets hit bc they are falling asleep & I don’t blame them.
