One of my favorite parts is the big reveal when the oil brings out the beauty of the wood. #woodcarving #sculpture #woodsculpture #art #woodworking

This sculpture with the stainless steel angelfish and carved wood base is a tribute to the incredible aquatic life that exists in the Amazon. This piece will be unveiled at the Festival of Arts in Laguna beach this summer. Come by and visit if you’re in the area!

A lot of people think I just sculpt marine life but I am interested in all wildlife. This sculpture titled “Frantic Moment” captures a high speed chase with a peregrine falcon made in bronze and sycamore wood chasing after two bronze swallows. The techniques that I use

lend themselves to bird feathering and this piece has a dynamic tension that I’m very proud of. #bronze #sculpture #mixedmediaart #peregrinefalcon #woodworking

This piece incorporated rocks in a new technique that I’ve been developing for a while now. The rocks are secured in a way similar to a gemstone with the various elements functioning as tines that hold the rocks into place. #brittlestar #sculpture #bronze

Sculpting water is always a challenge especially if it’s fabricated out of sheet metal. I wasn’t sure how this water coming off of the tail of the swordfish was going to turn out until it was almost done. It’s still got a ways to go but I’m starting to get excited!

I use a tiny carbide burr to grind my signature into this bronze and titanium beetle. The green color comes from heating the titanium with a torch. #titanium #sculpture #beetle #grinding #metalworking

It’s always hard to figure out where to sign each piece. I don’t want to have the signature take away from the sculpture. I tend to try and find an out of the way area to grind my name in. #octopus #bronze #metalworking #sculpture #signature
