When working on concept art, this is a great mindset to have, imagine if you're working on a concept, after finishing.. Think of it as level 1, ask yourself how can you evolve it, how can this become lvl 2, and how can it be lvl. 3

Pommels are an important part of the sword when it comes to design, it can show not only the personality of the sword. But the personality of it's wielder.
For example the wielder can attach tassels or charms.

The gaurd's duty is to protect the hand, but it also is the essence of the sword, in my opinion the gaurd is where you can go crazy with your design and it still be a believable sword.

A strong design isn’t just the lines you draw… it’s the spaces you don’t.
Use empty areas to make your sword silhouette clearer and more striking.
