A look under the hood at how GitHub rebuilt its star history API. As the maintainer of @StarHistoryHQ, I can confirm the new API is much faster and more reliable. Thanks to the GitHub team for listening to our feedback!
We worked with maintainers, including @tianzhouchen, to build a better way to track GitHub stars over time.
The new API returns daily star counts without exposing who starred a project, making star history easier to retrieve, cheaper to serve, and more private.
Here's how we built it:

AI made coding faster for 87% of devs.
Only 28% feel less friction.
@Atlassian's 2026 State of DevEx Report nails why: info hunting, meetings, context switching, and correcting AI that missed intent still eat the week. Tool usage as a productivity signal just creates performative AI.
Faster functions do not fix team bottlenecks, but a SDLC strategy does!

We just raised a $60M Series B at a $1B valuation to build @daytonaio into the Agent Cloud.
@FirstMarkCap led the round, with all key existing investors and angels doubling down.
We're also thrilled to welcome the founders of some generational companies aboard, including @patrickc (Stripe), @tobi (Shopify), @AravSrinivas (Perplexity), @BrendanFoody (Mercor), @oliveur (Datadog), @adamdangelo (Quora) and @ericsyuan (Zoom)
We're a 35-person team. But that's about to change; we're hiring across the board, and we'd love for you to join us.
Agents don’t just help build features. They can help try to break them, too.
In our latest GitHub Podcast episode, Sameen Karim takes us behind the scenes on building stacked PRs. Listen to it wherever you get your podcasts or at youtu.be/sbHoDdAalMI?si=purN…

This issue is sponsored by @sonarsource!
Valid code can still leak another user's invoices.
SonarQube Hunter Agent hunts those intent flaws (access control, biz logic, auth/sessions), validates them, & drops them into SonarQube w/ a plain explanation.

stacked prs @github behind the scenes. the merge box is way more complex than you think, we touched code that hadn't been updated in a decade, and we set a swarm of agents loose trying to break it 🤯
