Throwback Thursday to 3 weeks post adoption and Minnie was keeping Meggy warm

It’s very cloudy and chilly today so on our #HedgewatchforSox Leia and Bobby are keeping an eye on our renovation project instead. Sending so much love to Sox’s pawrents.

The many names of our cats: Luna: nunu, petunia Minnie: moo, minmin, miniature, tiny thunder horse, little diva, hummingbird (as her purring makes me think of it) Bob: bobby, boosh, skadoosh, dobbet, poppet. Dayan: mcscreamy, DanDan, dinner din dan dan (she screams at us for food at least 4x a day) Pixie: we never really call her that anymore. It’s always Pickle, pricklina, pish, ickle prickle Hannah: mama, nani, mademoiselle, beautiful floof. Nelly: bean, dikke (fat) bean, beanie, nellybelly Leia: chicken, Jimmy, cricket, jimmykems, chimkems, cheekiest of chickens

Hannah now has her own blanket between our pillow. She lies on it and I cover her body with it so she is nice, snug and warm during the night. Treating her like the princess she is. She won’t get under the duvet, yet, but won’t be surprised if she does in the near future.

We brought Minnie home on the 8th of October 2019. As with all our cats, she started in her own room, slowly introducing her to the others in the house. On the 23rd of October, just over 2 weeks post adoption, we let her roam at night for the 1st time and what did Minnie do? She climbed on my belly and fell asleep, something Minnie has done every night since. She loves Simon but I’m her favourite person. She will only ever sleep on me. 7 years on and Minnie has never stopped amazing us. After all she suffered, we expected a terrified little girl and we were ok with that. She could be whoever she was and we had no expectations. Minnie became the diva of the castle and remained so. Feisty, spicy, silly, funny but above all, so incredibly loving. We will never lose that feeling of honour. That we were selected. That we got to bring her home to us. That she loves us, so much.

Trigo update: Look at him! Just look at him!! My heart is bursting with pride! Trigo already started showing affection when he was with us. Laying close to me or rubbing his head against my leg but to see him snuggled up against his mum is just the best news! He knows he is safe. He knows he is loved and is giving all that love right back. Of course Lance has been all over them. We knew he would.

When it’s a rainy day, you’re physically recovering from a great day out yesterday and 6 of your kids are in the room with you. I put our travel basket, that doubles as a cat bed, under our bed and it’s Minnie’s favourite place.

7 years ago I got Jack, my soul cat tattooed on my leg. The one who started our account, first only on facebook, under the name Jack’s tail. To show life with a diabetic cat. When cancer ripped him from us 6 days after diagnosis, even after a visit to Noel Fitzpatrick’s oncology, the name just hurt too much. Jack’s story was over so the name was changed to Cat Castle and our account became what you all know today. I carry Jack with me, in the tattoo on my leg, his paw print tattooed on my wrist and forever in my heart. Love is the beginning, it should be the final word.

We had this incredible encounter yesterday! We had our 2nd family day out and went to the zoo. Perfect for all ages and at the tiger enclosure this happened. You can hear me go WOW WOAH!! The video doesn’t do justice to his size and how insanely close he got. He looked right at my niece and me. Everyone there that moment was just buzzing with excitement. He got in the water and just swam straight up to the 2 of us.

The name Lina has become the nr 1 name for female pets for 2026. Although we greatly dislike the word pet, we chose the name Luna, not only for the connection to Harry Potter but also because her eyes are the colour of soft moonlight. No other name would have suited our majestically stunning girl.

To the best sleeper in the castle. The gravity defying Bobby. He has slept like this pretty much from the moment he literally flew into our lives on the 20th of May 2026 and no matter how bad your day is, Bobby sleeping will never fail to make you smile, especially when you stroke his belly and he starts purring contently. #rescuecat #adoptdontshop #blackcat #void

Trigo update! Oh my mama heart is so proud right now! We always knew Lance would be just fine as he just loves EVERYONE! But Trigo? Trigo needed time. Needed to know he was safe. Needed his best friend to show him everything was ok and look at him now! Wiggly worming! In the sun! In his new forever home! Watching Trigo blossom in the 4 weeks with us has been so, so rewarding. Not gonna lie, had Lance come alone, we would have been a foster fail. 1000%! First foster and immediate fail 😹 but we realised what Trigo needed. He needed Lance and he needed not to compete with other cats than Lance. Thankfully Sana, the rescuer in Dubai, was receptive to my feedback. I was a new foster but an experienced cat mum and that collaboration with her had been incredible. Sana works together with another rescuer, Lina, who is the one who found and named Trigo and I just wanted to share why. Because she called him her dream. A dream of a better life. One filled with love and kindness and her dream has now come true. And by letting Trigo and Lance go, Simon and I can help many more dreams come true.

On this throw back Thursday, enjoy this video of Hannah from 2016 when she came to stay the first time with us. People always asked us how it went between the rabbits and cats. As you can see, both sides were completely unbothered. I woke at some point during the night last night and Hannah was asleep next to my pillow again. I lifted the duvet to cover her up and I fell asleep with my arm wrapped around her, snug and warm.

Oh Nunu, your beautiful never cease to amaze me.

Trigo and Lance update. The boys continue to do so well at their new home. Trigo has become more confident and affectionate and I have no doubt Lance supported him in that. We’re in talks with the rescuer in Dubai about the next fosters. The 2 she had in mind are already receiving a lot of interest so likely will go straight to their new home upon arrival. Will of course share who it will be nearer the time.
