On this last day of National Immunization Awareness week - sharing a photo of me and my grandmother in 1973. She came to help my parents when I spent a month in hospital with #meningitis. I experienced hearing loss, had to learn to walk again but that is better than the news my parents were given the first day I was rushed to emergency - that I was going into a coma and unlikely to survive. Fortunately, we now have vaccines for this kind of meningitis so that children and parents do not have to suffer. However, I will never forget that my nursery school friend who was also infected at the same time did lose his battle. I was the lucky one. #NIAW2024 #VaccinesWork #GetImmunized
Thank you @richardgratto for sharing this post in reply to despicable @PeteHegseth Not only is body shaming never OK but you have shed light on the value of these leadership programs and the incredible people who participate as youth and who volunteer their time as adults.
Replying to @PeteHegseth
Just to clear up any confusion here. The person in the left is a Cadet, which is a program for youth 12-17 year olds. It’s a leadership program. The person on the right is part of the Cadet instructor Cadre which is a cadet leader similar to an instructor in any youth programs. They do hold commissioned ranks in the Canadian forces however are their role is primarily volunteer. You can visit canada.ca/en/department-nati… . In addition to this, this program and its instructors saved my life when I was a kid! I was in and out of foster and group homes my whole youth and this program gave me a reason to stay focused and was one of the only stable things in my life! I owe everything I have in my life to this program! And the adult in this photo is volunteering their time to work with youth and help develop leadership skill and give these youth a place to learn and grow!! I don’t care how she looks or who she is, I applaud her and am thankful for people like her as without people like that I wouldn’t be where I am today!!
As I navigate the health system to rule out lung cancer, I focus on what I can do. Radon is the #1 cause in non-smokers. This small test kit is now in our rec room, among family fun family memories — one simple step to help keep my family safe. Get your kit!

Thanks @GordJohns @NDP for calling on Health minister @MarjoriePLC to finalize 5-yr-old regulations that would ban sweet & fruity flavours in #ecigs to protect youth from nicotine addiction as done by @GouvQc & @MinVWS without increasing smoking [@WHO @DrTedros recommendation]

A cancer vaccine, using the same core mRNA technology as the COVID vaccine, has shown an almost 50% reduction in the risk of melanoma recurrence or death when combined with immunotherapy.
This is why we fund MRNA technology.
Ahead of World No Tobacco Day, May 31st - “Unmasking the Appeal” - a forum to discuss evidence based policies and intervention - let’s accelerate EVIDENCE into ACTION. Removing access to online & flavoured products by youth needs to be a priority. #WNTD2026 #cessation
But it is also fake story with true video, Innocuous, cute fake story perhaps? Ongoing example of systematic lack of check for misinformation before sharing, even at the highest levels of government. No wonder community has no idea who to trust which can lead to serious harms.

ALT A group of about 10-12 people standing on an upper balcony or mezzanine level indoors, leaning over a railing and waving enthusiastically toward the camera or below. Most are smiling or cheering, dressed in winter coats and casual clothing. In the foreground, they hold a large white banner with bold black handwritten text reading "THANK YOU CANADA" across two lines, with a small green maple leaf drawing on the left side. The background shows a beige or light-colored wall. The photo has a slightly grainy, older digital quality.
🇨🇦🛰️ Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen will make history as the first Canadian—and first non-American—to travel beyond low Earth orbit on NASA’s Artemis II mission.
He will loop around the Moon before returning to Earth, with launch targeted as early as February 6, 2026.
Unless you are visiting a zoo in Greenland, you won’t be finding any penguins. Or is this now a “pre-warning” to the southern hemisphere?
My son is a recent recruit to the @RCAF_ARC at Xmas, my mom showed him my dad‘s jacket from when he was with @CFSnowbirds . She asked if he’d like to wear it. His response: “No grandma, that would be Stolen Valour. We should frame it.” @POTUS should learn a lesson ….

I want to show you the iron lung at Boston Children’s Hospital. Before the polio vaccine, hospitals were filled with iron lungs. RFK Jr. wants to drag us back to those dark days. Vaccines save lives. America’s children deserve health, safety, and science—not conspiracy.

This is a book in my home library about the awful meningococcal meningitis epidemic Texas experienced before we widely implemented the vaccine. It’s one of 6 diseases MAHA DHHS and their pseudoscience wants to bring back. Remember, they don’t care about you or your family

Complete disinformation & dangerous. It appears now that he thinks it is a good idea to fast track clinical trials, but yet with COVID-19 that continues to be misrepresented and highlighted as dangerous without the understanding of how much work was already undertaken w MRNA.
