My biggest issue with the CBB transfer portal is not the lack of cinderellas in the tournament.
The portal makes each team unrecognizable at the start of each season. Who are these players? Where did the old ones go? Every team has 10 new guys. Is this new guy a freshman or a fifth-year transfer? He played for my rival?
The inability for fans to grow years-long relationships with a core group of players on a team is gone. The chemistry developed from a group of players playing together for years is gone.
It feels like a new pick-up game every year. When the game is over, everyone changes teams.
This is my biggest gripe with the portal. The NCAA tournament is going to be fine.
