A friend of mine in Gaza asked me to connect her with any orgs/resources for kids who lost parents. And she’s finishing her last year of secondary school so she would like resources for helping her explore opportunities for going to university. Can anyone help me with this?

Things feel so bleak lately. Everyone’s discussing celebrities while Palestine falls into the backdrop. My village, Beit Iksa, is being taken over by settlers in real time, and it doesn’t even register in the psyche of so many Palestine supporters in the West.
Israeli settlers have established a second outpost in the village of Beit Iksa, northwest of Jerusalem, Palestine’s Wafa news agency has reported.

💢 Lebanese turtle conservationist attacked in Israeli airstrike on her home
Mona Khalil, a pioneering Lebanese marine turtle conservationist who founded the Orange House Project on Mansouri Beach in southern Lebanon, was wounded in an Israeli airstrike on her home Thursday.
Khalil underwent surgery for severe injuries, including a serious abdominal wound, before her condition stabilized Friday, according to Lebanese media and the NGO Green Southerners. “For more than two decades, her efforts helped transform this relatively small stretch of coastline into one of the most important sea turtle nesting sites on the eastern Mediterranean coast,” the NGO told the New Arab.

I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran.
This is a picture of Tehran. For you uneducated, untraveled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it. It's not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You're sick to want war.
Tehran is a city of nearly 10,000,000 people. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons.
I gave up my diplomatic career to leak this information. I suspended my duties so as not to be part of or a witness to this crime against humanity, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear winter before it is too late.
Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It's dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.

Meanwhile the people of Gaza are running animal shelters out of the ruins.
They spent years showing off their Dubai lifestyle. The moment it got dangerous, they abandoned the one thing that loved them unconditionally.
After Iranian missile strikes hit the UAE in early March 2026, thousands of expats rushed to leave Dubai. But as flights filled, a quieter crisis unfolded: hundreds of pets were abandoned. Dogs were found tied to lamp posts, left in empty apartments, or dumped near shelters already at capacity.
Rescue volunteers reported being overwhelmed. One said she received 27 messages in a single day from owners asking her to take their animals. Vets were flooded with requests to euthanize pets whose owners couldn't or wouldn't take them. Rescue groups like K9 Friends Dubai and War Paws called the situation heartbreaking, especially in one of the wealthiest cities on earth.
The crisis drew sharp criticism toward influencers and expats who built entire brands around luxury Dubai living but left their animals behind without a plan when things turned dangerous.

Notice how much military propaganda right now centers Black women dancing, eating, buying houses, talking about deployment like a lifestyle upgrade. Representation being used to brand empire that oppresses them at home, now using them to sell violence carried out abroad.

Former SJSU volleyball star Brooke Slusser says she shared beds with a transgender teammate without knowing that athlete was a biological male. She says she moved into an apartment with that teammate because her coach encouraged her to.
Now, SJSU is suing the Trump administration to challenge an investigation that determined the school violated Title IX, and to reaffirm its commitment to the LGBTQ community, all while Slusser is still working on trying to process everything that happened while she lived in that apartment.
Trump cabinet members are buying nuclear bunkers while telling you everything is fine.

He’s so ridiculously sheltered that he cannot conceive of the concept of poverty
🚨 LMFAO! Elon Musk gives the most ELON answer to "what would you do if you started over with $1,000?"
"It's somewhat of an impossible dichotomy, because civilization would have had to have been destroyed or something, in which case $1,000 is not going to solve your problems."
"And if civilization hasn't melted, then I could probably just tell people to give me money, which I've done before." 🤣🔥 @elonmusk
"A lot of things would have to go wrong for that to be the case. It's like, am I just emerging from prison, perhaps, with a stipend? All my companies have been confiscated."
"I mean, it would take armageddon, which hopefully that doesn't happen, like Ragnarok next level, and I lost."
"I mean, it's impossible for someone to have this amount of knowledge, all the knowledge that I have, and then be dropped down to a low resource amount."
"Because the reality is that either something truly catastrophic has happened, like civilization has melted, or I will be able to ask people to just give me money, and with the promise that I will have a high return, which is what I'm able to do right now. Like if you give me a dollar, you will get back much more than a dollar."

They will potentially de facto sentence a young woman to death for rescuing chickens worth collectively $24 from a facility with air quality so poor Rosenberg could barely breath when entering the coop. because industrial agribusiness and factory farms can’t stand the precedent
Yesterday, I was sentenced to serve 90 days in the Sonoma County Jail and pay over $102,000 in restitution as a punishment for rescuing four sick, abused chickens from Perdue's Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse. I will have to turn myself in on December 10th at 7 pm. I have also been ordered to spend two years on supervised probation, maintain employment or remain enrolled as a student, stay away from all Perdue facilities in Sonoma County, and have no contact with several other animal rescuers who I work with.
For the first 30 days of my jail sentence, the judge has barred me from being allowed to even apply for alternative detention, despite my complex health issues that make even a few days in jail incredibly dangerous. It is also important to note that my application for alternative detention could be denied for those latter 60 days.
The Sonoma County Jail uses the medical provider WellPath. WellPath has been sued over 1,400 times for medical neglect and malpractice and is currently declaring bankruptcy. I have Type 1 Diabetes, a serious autoimmune disease I have lived with since the age of eight. If I go without insulin for even a handful of hours, I could end up hospitalized or worse. If I have a hypoglycemic episode and don't immediately get access to glucose, I could have a seizure, go into a coma, or die. We have no confidence that WellPath will take these concerns seriously given their long history of medical neglect.
As I face these risks, I am thinking constantly about the animals on factory farms and other facilities who are denied even the most basic care, medical or otherwise. We will keep fighting for them and their right to be safe and cared for and I hope to be here at the end of this, alive and well to continue that fight.
Please ask Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon me before I have to turn myself into jail so that my health will not be put into the hands of WellPath and to send a message that animal rescue is not a crime in the first place: FreeZoe.org
