I slightly prefer the simpler original Marble Game marble exchange rules, but kudos to @cfbmarbles for creating these visualizations that explain the whole concept.
Every team has a pile. Every game has a pot. Win, and you take all the marbles. The For All The Marbles Standings: objectively simple, for a chaotically beautiful game. collegefootballmarbles.com #CFB #ForAllTheMarbles

Just a reminder that the Marble Game knows all, sees all, and ruthlessly apply the rules no matter how low profile the game
The Aggies leave Huntsville with 48. @NMStateFootball won it 30-24, and a road win takes a quarter of the loser's pile no matter how close it was. 7 marbles out of @BearkatsFB, who are down to 19. #AggieUp #EatEmUpKats #ForAllTheMarbles Presented by @gamedayhue

Hope they don't mind me bird-dogging, but here's the respective updated Top 12 marble standings for @CFBMarbleGame (1) and @cfbmarbles (2). (1) is the original flavor marble transfer rules, (2) has slighty different rules. Either, I will suggest, is superior to hungover idiot sports columnists with ballots

I don't mind variants on the marble concept. I just want playoff selection to stop being decided in smoke filled rooms, using rankings phoned in by hungover sportswriters or computer algorithms whose makers refuse to release their code. Objectivity, simplicity, transparency>all

The rules for @cfbmarbles are pretty much the same as @CFBMarbleGame with a few interesting twists. That's the beauty of open source. Kevin Smith maintains a GitHub with source code that can be verified, or modified with different scoring rules. xitter.cf/cfbmarbles/status/2090…
College football finally has standings, not rankings. Win a road game, take 25% of their marbles. Win at home, take 20%. Lose, and hand yours over. Nobody votes. Here's how it works 👇 #CFB

NEW: A 24-team playoff isn't just coming - it will drastically change the bowl system per @On3 👀 Bowls moving BEFORE the season. P4 teams refusing to play. Sponsors walking. A lot of unknowns Details: on3.com/news/the-bowl-system…

If you're going to penalize a 1-loss Power Conference team for a weak strength of schedule... BYU's SOS is better than Ole Miss and Notre Dame. If you're going to penalize a team for not having the strongest power ratings (which incorporate prior year's history and recruiting rankings)... BYU's FPI is higher than Oklahoma's. If you're going to penalize a team for a non-competitive / bad loss... Alabama lost by 14 to a team with a losing record and Miami lost to two unranked teams. If you're going to use strength-of-record like you indicated you would, BYU's SOR is the second highest of teams 6-12. BYU also (1) made its conference championship game and (2) if you sum up the wins of the teams it has beaten, it is THIRD in the country. It is hard to win games and BYU has beaten a lot of teams with a lot of wins. This. Makes. No. Sense. The @CFBPlayoff should be ashamed of itself. It has literally contorted itself into a pretzel to avoid putting BYU where it should be ranked (somewhere between 6th - 9th). RT to get the info out there. They need to feel pressure.

Having BYU behind ND makes college football figure skating or gymnastics. You don’t even need to play the games. It’s so dumb. BYU plays in a power conference. Tougher schedule. They have less losses and better wins. Ruins the whole sport. #provodave #byuscrewed

Very interesting!
I've learned there's a new website, For All The Marbles (collegefootballmarbles.com/s…), that utilizes the github source code for the College FB Marble Game written by @_KevinSmith along with a few interesting marble exchange rules.

Me: BYU deserves to be in the Playoff! Everyone: Try beating someone first! Me: BYU has six wins over 7+ win teams. That leads the nation. They also have wins over two currently ranked teams. Everyone: Well that’s because it’s the Big 12, they all stink. Me: Really? Because the Big 12 had a winning record in non-conference games against P4 competition. They also have five ranked teams, including 4 in the Top 20. Everyone: That doesn’t prove anything! Look at their SOS or SOR. Me: That’s fine. BYU is 6th is SOR, ahead of every two loss team. They also have a higher SOS than Ole Miss, Notre Dame, and Miami. Everyone: Okay well they got blown out by three scores to Texas Tech! Me: Your right, that was a tough loss. A lot like Oklahoma losing a neutral site game by 3 scores, Oregon losing at Home by 2 scores, or Alabama losing by two scores to a 5-6 Florida State. Everyone: 😑 😡 😤 …. Well in a hypothetical game, BYU would lose so case closed.

BYU has played a tougher schedule than Notre Dame. BYU has better wins than Notre Dame. BYU has a better record than Notre Dame. Notre Dame is going to make the playoff and BYU will miss the playoff unless it wins the Big 12. Brand bias at its finest.
BYU not top 10 is brand bias. Simple as that.
