wall street banning claude code isn't a setback. it's the beginning of the enterprise sandbox war. goldman sachs blocking agents on local employee endpoints is the exact rational move: you don't let an autonomous agent touch customer data on an unmonitored laptop. the next multi-billion dollar category isn't another coding agent. it's isolated, ephemeral cloud sandboxes with granular audit logs. the builder who solves agent security for banks wins the enterprise.

I thought only boomers at banks used @DevinAI? Actually, you are just behind. @mercor knows the power of cloud agents. Time to wake up.
Founded by three 22-year-olds in 2023, @mercor crossed $2B ARR in June, only 4 months after hitting $1B. Today, millions of experts on the platform bring their knowledge of medicine, law, engineering, and beyond to frontier AI - helping models take on increasingly complex and consequential work in the real world. Mercor's engineers move at extraordinary speed. They give Devin long-running tasks before bed, during meetings, or on their way to the gym. They come back to tested features and PRs ready to merge.

Not a bad crew
THE SCALE MAFIA one of the most special parts of starting a company is watching the people you fought and bled with in the early days go out and change the world. the Scale crew was supernatural. @scale_ai was one of the first companies to IOI and IMO-maxx, and the magic of Scale was that all of these geniuses gave a shit and ran through walls. it's no wonder that the Scale mafia is the first true mafia of the modern tech era. just to name a few: - cognition founder @stevenkplus1 & president @russelljkaplan - modal founder @akshat_b - tech & science advisor to POTUS @mkratsios47 - claude code head of product @_catwu - kpcb partners @LM_Braswell & @nayakkayak - bun founder @jarredsumner - tbd head of product @lindugong - netic founder @melisatokmak - cobot founder @BradPorter_ - secureframe founder @shravvmehtaa - paramount skydance cfo @DennisKCinelli - thinking machines gc lauren lennon - partner at greylock @sophia_luo_ - liquid ai coo jeffrey li - gallatin ai founder @agilemofo - tbd safety @_julianmichael_ - center for ai safety president @devindkim [photo courtesy the beautiful wedding of @thenateherman (who in many ways was a cofounder of Scale) and @ChristinaG325]

When I joined Cognition ~1.5 years ago, most devs thought Devin was fake / a scam. Cursor was getting major hype and breaking ARR growth records. Then Claude Code entered the arena, and Devin got pushed even further back in mindshare. It was natural to feel some jealousy and resentment toward the others players, but also inspiration from what they were accomplishing. Through it all, @ScottWu46 and @russelljkaplan encouraged us to keep our heads down and keep building against the conviction Cognition has held since day one: cloud agents are the future of software engineering. So far, so good. But the job’s not done, and our heads are still down.
strong people lift others up. weak people pull others down. winners focus on winning. losers focus on winners. people doing great things don't have time to hate. idle people have nothing but time.

At Cognition we try hard to close candidates. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. But one thing we never do is attack the folks we tried to hire full-time just because they decided to go a different direction. And as an industry we should not accept that behavior.

Seems like he resigned and now you are trying to malign a good man’s name who created a juggernaut business in data platform area and seems like based on your metric projections he was good for your business as well. Still time to delete this

Hey Matan - CEO of Cognition here. I respect the work you have done at Factory but your allegations here about Cognition are not true. We have no interest in Factory’s info and Chris has never brought it up. He has not shared and would never share any information about you or Factory with our team, nor would we ever ask. Similarly, we would never ask our engineers or anyone on our team to collect info about any competitor under-the-table. Chris is an advisor to at least 10 companies, and he told you he was resigning as an advisor on Monday. The truth is we both wanted Chris and for good reason - he is a living legend with an unmatched reputation for results and integrity. Not only is he the only person who has built a sales org from the first sales hire to over 3B, he also has built incredible teams that he cares deeply about. His people love working for him. Again, I have a lot of respect for what you’ve built, but competing with integrity doesn’t include posts like yours.
We are terminating Chris Degnan for unethical conduct involving Cognition. The last few months have seen incredible progress in AI capabilities. San Francisco has flourished as new companies that solve new, more ambitious problems are finding great success. Generally, it is a wonderful time to be building. We at @FactoryAI have seen overwhelming interest in our model-agnostic coding agents and our software factory product. Our team has 10x’d in size, while our revenue has 100x’d year over year. This momentum has been unprecedented. A much larger competitor, Cognition (makers of Devin) has fallen behind us on the capabilities that matter most to customers: cost, quality, and security. Instead of competing in the market, Cognition engineers feigned interviews with us to pry information about our product. Not finding what they were looking for, Cognition has decided to throw their weight and money at people with direct knowledge of our most confidential plans. It feels as though ethics is being thrown out of the window in the AI era. People are willing to do anything, including exploiting privileged information and violating ethical boundaries. I think this is unique to our time, and I don’t think it’s right. Integrity still matters. Yesterday, I made the decision to immediately terminate Christopher Degnan’s roles as a Board Observer and Advisor to Factory, after over a year of service. Prior to this decision, Chris told me he had a casual conversation with an executive at Cognition AI. When I questioned his intentions, he reassured me that ethics aside, he had “made too much money” and was “too lazy to go work for Cognition,” which I trusted and believed. On Monday, Chris spent time advising the Factory team on a handful of confidential board-level matters. That evening, he called me to say that the conversation that was initially described as casual and one-off was actually formal and recurring. For weeks, while he sat in our board meetings and advised our leadership team, he was also confiding with executives of our largest competitor. Chris was subject to confidentiality obligations in connection with his work with Factory. We do not know the extent of the information he shared, but it puts his timely questions about our product roadmap and what the parity gap involves into a new light. It is sad to sever a relationship with someone who has been a trusted advisor - and even a close friend - for over a year. But Chris’s conduct is unacceptable to me. Trust in Board Membership is one of the sacred bonds in the Silicon Valley, one that helps the startup ecosystem thrive. With it comes an enormous responsibility. That trust was violated. Competition is good. I respect and in many cases admire our competitors. San Francisco is a beautiful, singular place where the bold and ambitious go to defy the norms and precedents of the past. But certain principles that must remain. Violating ethics to seek advantage turns what should be positive-sum into zero-sum. We all love technology. And we all love to compete. But we must hold ourselves to a higher standard. The future of software engineering comes with abundance that will impact every person on Earth. Building that future comes with immense responsibility. We must build and compete with integrity.

I’m super excited to join Cognition as its Chief Revenue Officer. Going from the 1st sales rep at Snowflake to CRO at a $100b public company was the thrill of a lifetime.   Never in my wildest imagination did I think I'd get the opportunity to jump on another rocket ship.  Meeting Scott, Russell, and the entire team at Cognition got me so excited to do it again with world-class technology. Hearing how customers spoke about how Devin is transforming their business made me realize this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. While I am not jumping on as the first sales rep this time, I can’t wait to dive in and help drive amazing customer outcomes while building a world-class sales team.  As many of you know, Chad Peets was my co-pilot in building the sales team at Snowflake and my business partner when I joined RPT.  There is no world where I could be the best version of myself without Chad.  So I am thrilled that Chad and the RPT team will be working closely with me in our pursuit of building a generational company.  LFG!!

Cognition is the fastest growing company is history. A testament to the transformation Devin is driving at the world's largest, most complex companies 🚀
Cognition has crossed $1B in annualized revenue run rate. This milestone belongs to our customers. Here's how a few of them are building with Devin.

Remember all that Windsurf drama? OpenAI deal fell apart. Google took the founders and researchers to build Antigravity Then @Cognition bought what remained Looking at what Devin has become now, that Windsurf + Cognition synergy might’ve been the best thing that happened Devin is so good now

3 reasons why I’m dropping brand loyalty to any single LLM provider and moving my entire workflow to @cognition_labs (Devin) ⬇️ 1. The frontier model race is a moving target Lab dominance shifts every few months. Locking yourself into one model provider means constantly migrating infrastructure every time a competitor drops a new benchmark leader. Devin solves this by giving access to all frontier models alongside their own highly performant model. 2. Engineering > Raw Model Benchmarks Raw intelligence is only half the battle. Real stability doesn't come from marginal benchmark gains, it comes from genuine software engineering and infrastructure built around the models. 3. Focus on the execution stack Providers like Devin aren't just shipping model weights; they’re building the execution environments, tool integration, and agentic harness required to make AI actually execute complex work reliably. The play isn't betting on who wins the next model release. It's using the environment that orchestrates them all into a real engineering platform. Are you still betting on a single model provider, or have you shifted toward multi-model platforms? Curious how others are structuring their stack right now.

Devin is overlooked. Soon OpenAI is removing their models from Cursor. It will be the only superapp left with all the different models. Plus they acquired @interaction, and are most certainly working on their own super-app to rival GrokBot, Muse, and GPT Work. Don't sleep on @cognition

Not enough days this week
Introducing SWE-2, our closest model yet to the frontier. On leading evals, it scores on par with recent frontier models – at up to 70% lower cost. We scaled RL to multiple trillions of parameters, with a refined recipe that pushes the Pareto curve on both capabilities & cost.

The world needs more Devin. And it’s about to get a whole lot more.
The world needs far more software than it can build. Cognition exists to change that. We’ve just raised over $2B at a $48B valuation, led by a16z, Accel, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, and Avenir. Since our round in May, run-rate revenue has grown from $492 M to almost $900 M.

I have to give some credits to @cognition and their marketing for taking up on this moment. Couple of weeks ago someone launched a fake news how @spacexai showed interest in buying them. Around that time their ambassadors starting to approach couple of AI influencers and giving them free max subscription for Devin. Last few days lot of posts from those guys on their experience preceding this announcement. Your post and similar posts are just a wrap up on brilliant marketing strategy that helped Devin from being pretty much unknown company to became ‘next best thing’. I am genuinely impressed
