kpop has pushed this business model that turns idols into larger-than-life brands which makes fans feel concerningly entitled to their non-idol sides. like, its ok to learn all of batman/bruce wayne's lore. but its NOT ok to learn bang chan's private lore bc he is a Real Person.

even if skz disappeard for 6 months I would still show up for them everyday, stream their music and watch their content because they have already given us so much. western artists can disappear for two years meanwhile kpop artists get dragged if they do a tinybit less than before

mega PSA: kr honorifics dgaf abt indiv bdays. the Year is what matters. thats part of why 'korean age' exists & kr cant easily switch to intl age. eg: person A born dec31, 2000 wont need hrfcs w person B jan1, 2000 even tho theres 1 whole yr bw them. mw, person C jan1, 2001 1/?

in the same vein #SpeakingMyTruth 1 of my biggest peeves in fanfics is when someone uses honourifics wrong 😭would much rather they didnt use them @ all instead of using them improperly bc it fr just screws the flow… like no girl, lix isnt calling hanji no damn hyung cmon now 💔

so yeah! thx for coming to my ted talk. i tried my best to break it down simply but w honourifics & formal speech theres just a lot that is situation-dependent so u learn w experience. my main gripe is that these words have Meaning & should be used w precision or not at all 24/24
