Why did I say that Shri Rahul Gandhi ji, respected leader of the opposition, reminds me of Mr Rowan Atkinson’s world famous character Mr Bean?
This has gravely upset some people.
This was a compliment and not a criticism, let me explain.
The Prime Minister @narendramodi is responsible for governing a country of 1.4 billion people - with complex domestic and geopolitical challenges that need to be addressed every day.
Parliament is the forum where he is supposed to be held to account by the opposition led by the leader of the opposition Mr Rahul Gandhi ji.
Instead of exposing the failings of the Government and presenting his alternative vision and agenda, Mr Gandhi throws a tantrum and keeps walking out.
This is why I said in debate yesterday with Mr @gauravcsawant ji that Mr Gandhi’s “challenge” video aimed at the Prime Minister for a debate outside the House seems childish, immature and churlish.
A person who has lost virtually every election under his leadership wants to challenge for a debate a multi-term Chief Minister and now India’s longest serving Prime Minister.
Doesn’t the PM have better things to do?
It is in this context I referred to Mr. Gandhi as the comedy character Mr Bean - not to mock him but to compliment him for his excellent sense of humour.

Lisbon is a city built across seven hills, with the magnificent River Tagus flowing through it on its way to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a city of steep, winding streets, beautiful old buildings, red tiled rooftops, ornate balconies and magnificent churches that gave Lisbon its unmistakable charm.
At 9 a.m every morning I would walk across to the pastelaria opposite my apartment for my morning coffee, then stop at the little bakery downstairs to pick up freshly baked bread. Afterward, I’d sit on my wrought iron balcony with my cup and watch the iconic yellow trams rattle past the street below. It was a lovely way to begin the day.
The streets of Lisbon are steep, and the smooth worn cobblestone streets gave my legs quite a workout! Life moved slowly, there was no particular urgency to the day. In the evening the mood of the city would change. The air filled with the smell of grilled sardines and the melancholic sound of Fado music could be heard drifting from the open door of a tavern.
Lisbon is a city that balances deep Portuguese traditions with a large fluid international community.
The bureaucracy tested my patience to its absolute limits and the bitter winters eventually drove me further south into Spain.
Yet despite it all Lisbon still lingers in my memory like a quiet love story.
