In 2007, Zoran Janković, the mayor of Ljubljana, was slapped and mobbed by protesters for proposing to make downtown car-free. It’s been so wildly successful that a recent survey of city residents showed that 97% of residents supported keeping the streets car-free.
Went for a mini-stakeout off the woods over the burn from the bottom of our field, looking for Red Squirrels. None of them, but I’ll take a first Kingfisher seen here as a consolation. Fleeting but unmistakable.

Like so many public plazas across the Netherlands, De Plaats in The Hague was once filled with parked cars.
The historic nature of these cities did not preclude them from succumbing to the automobile.
But critically, they've spent the past few decades correcting those mistakes.

Given the noise coming from the western approach road some evenings drivers must think that dual carriageway = 70mph
It doesn’t matter if you think the speed limit is wrong.
A fixed penalty notice for speeding could mean a £100 fine & 3 points on your licence. If you end up in court, fines can be up to £2,500 & you could lose your licence.

Also, Cluny Gardens is a disgrace. Because it is long and straight, drivers think they should be able to overtake, but the oncoming traffic & parked cars make it impossible. so they get frustrated. But why is there uncontrolled parking? almost all the houses have private drives.

Our eldest has just started at Roseburn primary and I've only seen two cars at drop off/ pick up time which is somewhat astounding. It helps that most people have a ride across the park to get there i guess.

Well we didn’t tell anyone when the 2021 Black Rock was supposed to be... but last night would’ve been the 33rd Black Rock ‘5’ (if we’d had the 2020 race). The race director kept to his tradition by running the route on race morning. Hand indicating level of the water @ the rock!

Brilliant day showcasing Scouting skills, badges & programming as well as a display on the history of Scouting in Burntisland to mark our centenary. Being able to incorporate #JOTAJOTI and chat with Scouts across the world was fantastic.

Response to a petition calling for bikes to be sold with lights, after a 14 year old cyclist was killed by a van driver, who had a licence, overtaking, in excess of the speed limit. i.e. the van driver had a licence, and that didn't stop him acting illegally.

Hi @GreggsOfficial when are you going to switch to direct vision/low cab vehicles for use in urban environments?
With the attitude to cycle lanes and vehicle choices it seems vulnerable roadusers safety is of low concern to you.
