Very easy to clean up basketball. Do it like volleyball and lacrosse. Once you register and sign up to a team…you can’t go to another team for the whole season. You can quit but can’t play anywhere else. That’s would cut out a lot of BS

“Grassroots Coaches” needs to be clarified. True Grassroots Coaches value development of the whole person while getting the most out of student-athletes. In gyms looking for the next come up is whack juice. The true platform is the heart of the player. “52 Fake Out” is real.

Recruits: when a college coach from ANY level reaches out…RESPOND! Even if you aren’t interested! Respond! Many would trade places with you in a second. You aren’t too good to respond! And you never know where that coach may be in the future! I know I know….there will be so many saying “tell the coaches to respond too” and that’s valid but you gotta control what YOU can control!

It’s up to us coaches to adhere to this. We have to stop letting players do dumb stuff. We have to hold them accountable and teach them. It not being done. Stop letting kids jack threes and stop not making kids pass to the open players. Lastly, stop the unnecessary games.
THE ANSWER TO ADAM SILVER.. Basketball is a simple game… the teams that dominate SIMPLE, have the most success. What Europe does extremely well for their players, is give them a SOLID FOUNDATION of understanding team basketball, give them freedom to build their Individual Skill, and make every game Meaningful Something. That Foundation is simple to teach, we don’t do a good job of it in America. In top of that, when players don’t do the little things, we don’t hold them accountable to them. When the best ones get to the next level where their talent/skill is even, they can’t get on the floor or impact winning bc of this. By sheer numbers we’ll always have Size/Speed/Athleticism and Skill to choose from. Build these players with Stronger TEAM FOUNDATIONS, hold them accountable to it, and you’ll build AMERICAN BASKETBALL. P.S. the reason this probably won’t happen is the same reason why people won’t watch this full 1:30 video… its boring

Don’t shoot the messenger. It’s not pretty watching coaches letting players do what they damn well know they aren’t capable of doing in games. It works vs bad teams but many players struggling in playoff time. Why are kids so against perfecting what they do well?

In my first year as a JUCO HC: All of my sophomores will graduate. All of my sophomores that WANT to play at the next level, WILL. All of my freshman will be returning + eligible. Obviously the goal is to win a ring but these are the wins that stick with me. – at Durham, NC

PARENTS OF STUDENT ATHLETES! Do you understand when a college coach is recruiting your kids, they’re recruiting you too? What you SAY and DO in the stands can completely ruin your kids recruiting process! SN: Leave the refs alone and support your kid/team!

Juco isn’t a knock on your talent… players go juco for many reasons~ grades, maturity, recruiting improvement and more. Plenty of PROs, and high major D1/D2 guys have had to play juco… so what makes you think you too good for it? It’s either you love this or not
