1. A chaotic system with no exit
The world is chaotic and cannot be fully known. People cannot see how societies, institutions, markets, and technical systems will observe, infer, and treat them, yet their own inputs and outputs are easily captured by those systems.
Leaving a platform does not mean leaving the world: one must still live, trade, communicate, and create. There is no real exit from the system.
2. People are finite
Attention, time, and cognition are limited. No one can inspect every observation, connection, and request through willpower alone. External systems compete precisely over this finitude: through data collection, identity linkage, constant notifications, reputation mechanisms, and algorithmic recommendation, they increase how predictable and how influenceable a person becomes. Modern intrusion need not be coercion; it can be the steady inducement to keep watching, responding, disclosing, and optimizing oneself.
3. Each person decides their distance from the world
Since there is no exit, the question is not whether to connect but how far. When to participate, under which identity, to whom to disclose, how much to disclose, which connections to accept, and when to pause, withdraw, or leave a particular system: these decisions belong to the individual. This distance can change with context and over time.
The first two axioms are judgments about the world and about people; the third is a value position we deliberately choose. It rejects the conclusion that "since people cannot see clearly and cannot keep up, platforms and algorithms should decide for them."

we are like objects drifting at sea
even though we were once so close to one another
a tsunami has scattered us in different directions
we may still be in the same group chat
but some of us have been through life-and-death trials
some have already messed everything up
some have received gifts from fate
we have all changed in countless ways
Minimize dependencies wherever possible
More dependencies mean more risk
