My Mom, who has worked in education for over 20 years has recently been faced with an impossible situation. The Florida Board of Education has completely slashed her funding to all things library related. Meaning everything from buying Books to library software is now coming out of her pocket. Her school is 1200 students strong. and without the funding from the state, things like Book clubs, Maker Spaces, Author visits, and Kindergarten Read-alouds all have to be cut. I never ask for handouts- anyone who knows me well knows this. But id like to help in any way i can to support my mother and her students, including using my platform to spread the word. If you are in the mood to donate, or know someone who is- here is the link. myschoolbucks.com/ver2/prdem… You are in no way obligated to donate, although i appreciate every single person who does! engaging with this post also helps to spread the word. I want to thank you for taking the time to read or donate, every little bit helps. and hopefully this kind of pressure on the Florida education system will help move them in the right direction towards supporting our libraries! Love you mom <3
